if this all goes pear shaped and the trade falls through, it won’t be as hard to rock up to training first week with players he knows, on a personal level compared to rocking up to see what the fans say. They’re going to be brutal.
True however it will go through, as i said Port certainly would have given him the assurance before the plan was swung into action. like i said he might be a bit slow but his manager would have done the due diligence.

I would really like to hear what the playing group thinks of this

Many of them will be happy. I actually liken it to that troublesome employee that once they leave, everyone lets out a big sigh of relief and feel like they can enjoy their workplace again. Thank god they're gone. We'll be better off with him not there. The playing group will be more united.

He has talent and I am disappointed it didn't work out as he can play. But the team overall is more important and he was never part of the team. Never one of the boys. Just didn't click with the group overall.

Make Port pay, 2 firsts and a very good player. Maybe a 2nd as well. Nail the picks and move on.

My point was if he's not interested in Crows then he prefers us over them. Perhaps he'd like to be at Port but if that cant be done then he'll stay.
I think that's what his management are probably saying especially with Francis as his step dad. But in reality I very much doubt he wants to stay at North another year. I suspect he'd choose Adelaide over that. We need to be negotiating with the Crows as though he'll go there. The possibility of him going to the Crows will only benefit us.

You’d hope the big brother cast off read the room, not just negotiated a deal with port then walks away from the clubs.

Anyone got anymore intel on Noble and recruiting staff retroactively butting heads over his selection? Would love to really know how his behavior and form was perceived behind closed doors now that we don’t need to try to protect him
I didn't read it as Noble and the Recruiting Staff butting heads, Noble wanted him, I actually think this is on JHF I suspect he interviewed well and anyone else we spoke to said what a good kid he is loyal, strong character etc. But what I think will come out now is that his ego knows no bounds, he thinks he can get by on talent alone and when hard work was required (or even basic recovery) he wasn't prepared to do it. I think he fooled all of us.

I would pushing to make Marshall part of the deal, negates any need to draft Cadman and we can just go with Wardlaw with our top pick

Why do you think we would be better off him going to the Crows.

Would be interesting to know how much work we have put into him as a first year player. If he has failed to settle or connect wih the club I’d like to know why. Doesn’t seem to have much love within the playing group.
The whole narrative has been that it’s all been North’s issue.

I think the player needs to take some responsibility here.

I think we got played here and this has been in the works for quite a while.

He never settled because he didn’t want to settle.

Yeah I think that sort of tees up with what Ralph implied. Horne comes off as the obvious selection prior to the draft, Noble gets frustrated as the truth of his nature starts to come out during year 1 and then (perhaps unfairly) takes it out on the recruiters who resign in protest? Just speculating though

We’ll, Noble would be correct.

Was a bit shocked when it came through but not surprised, thought maybe end of next year but perhaps now gets us best value.
Timing is interesting by his management. Pretty ordinary if he hasn't given NMFC a heads up this is coming.
Maybe he's in the "Show me the money" doco that's probably filming and they wanted to bring some drama?
Why ask to be the no. 1 pick? If you didn't want to leave SA just be upfront. Did your ego need pick 1 title and/or the NAB portfolio that bad?

As others have said, Port should have to get at least a top 5 pick this year, preferably pick 2 of wce or pick 3 off gws so we can get another of cadman/sheezel/wardlaw and their future first as a starting point. Then sweetener with a young player like Sinn/Bergman or Admon compo pick or someting like that to counterract the chance they might make finals which dilutes next years first.
Frustrating but would rather have players who are 100% all in like LDU. LDU actually apologised that he's taken this long to start producing (he didn't need to as even Petracca took 6 years to start being consistent) and is thankful we took him and wasn't off to Freo. Will Phil the same attitude it appears.

Hence why pick 9 and future 1st isn't enough.

The Draft Pick Maths

Value of No. 1 pick alone = 3000 points

Value of No. 9 pick (Port’s 2022 first-rounder, pushed back a spot by Ashcroft bid) + a top 10-pick (2023 first-rounder if Port misses finals) = minimum 2864 points, maximum 4469 points

Value of No. 9 pick + a pick in 11-18 range (2023 first-rounder if Port plays finals) = maximum 2798 points, minimum 2454 points

No not really, we don’t exactly lose anything if he stays at north. You get a player who doesn’t want to be there taking up your list spot, leaving next year and not really getting anything in return?
You try and convince yourself of that.

Port made the move here. If you can’t get it done believe me it won’t go down too well.

You don’t make this move as a nice to have, you have gone all out here to get a No.1 Pick only 12 months into his contract to your club. Port definitely have something to lose here.

Why do you think we would be better off him going to the Crows.
It's really just about having 2 parties competing for what we're selling, not just one.

The Crows will be working through every angle even with the Rankine situation. They'll want JHF. If they can't land him, they'll want Port to pay a big price for him. We will welcome this competition. And we will tell JHF, you will be going to Adelaide if Port's deal is inferior.

I wish him the best.

We we’re never going to get the best out of him if he wasn’t happy.

Our responsibility is to ensure a win-win (for player and club) trade is made.

Emotions aside, he did us a favour by informing the club he wants to leave in the first year of his contract while the club has bargaining power.
