Just think that Merrett has to go to half back and impact the game from back there… we desperately need it, and his skill set could be just as damaging:
  1. Our disposal out of back half is shocking
  2. Our organisation is sporadic and lacks leadership which Merrett would provide (sorry Andy but this means relinquishing the VC)
  3. Merrett can then inject himself into the midfield as he sees fit mid game
  4. Frees Martin to be on a wing/half forward/Roberts can also help fill void
That then allows Parish, Calders and Durham clarity as our first picked mid rotation.

Then Tsatas, Hobbs and (Shiel, Setters, Perkins) as the second group.

That makes sense for me.

Simon Madden broke The great man’s game record. I stood under the Dick Reynolds stand to be a bit closer to the festivities. The Great man walked past, I asked him for an autograph, all I had on me was a 50 dollar note, he happily signed AND kept the 50 !! How good was that ?!
What could I do ? Chase the great man whilst standing under his own grandstand ??
I let it go. Ten minutes later, the great man returned laughing his head off, returned the 50…..” had you going young fella”…..
Pure gold.
