Not a big fan of the CEO coming out and saying ‘he will stay’…. Then when asked, ‘he said it last year I’m not saying anything he hasn’t said ‘

Let contract talks play out privately, not in the public setting. Cant imagine Luke or his management would be thrilled with that.
Okay so consider it from this perspective.

Journalist: Do you think LDU will stay?

Jen Watt: Yes, he's publicly stated that he sees himself as a North Melbourne footballer for life.

Wasn’t asked if LDU will stay? Jen inadvertently said LDU will stay when talking about retention of players and people not wanting to come.

It seems rather ironic, that we have yet another bout of BigFooty angst here about Jen's comments yesterday in the backdrop of the very thread title itself.

Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [C7/J.Ralph] LDU declares he wants to be a NM player for life; '24 SBM - congrats LDU

Oh well, its BigFooty I suppose. Why wouldn't we all (or a few) get ourselves tied in a knot about nothing at all.

BUT JON RALPH SAID SOMETHING SOMETHING HAWTHORN AND SAM MITCHELL IS A SECRET WEAPON GENIUS. OH WHEN WILL OUR WORRIES EVER END!!!!!!!!

There's only one thing for it. Time to set fire to Waverley.

LDU will write a lot of articles and fill fix footy segments if he waits to extend. But I reckon he stays, especially if we improve.

This I feel is our biggest worry about LDU.

Can't lie this scares me a little bit. Hawks have insane hype behind them right now and clearly their recruiting pull is even more insane with all their recruits over the last 12 months.

Although surely being the no.1 guy in the most exciting list in the comp would be better than just being another guy in the midfield like he would be at Hawthorn...

Yeah, but I reckon he’s the number one banana in the midfield at the Hawks too.

My thoughts are if he leaves he leaves. We have built a great culture at North, or are pretty far along with it now.
If dudes aren’t along for the ride, so be it……..I don’t think he leaves at all. Think he loves the joint. Losing is hard. As a supporter it’s exhausting getting belted every week, can’t imagine what’s that like as a player and being blamed for it.
LDU doesn’t strike me as the type who would want to arrive at a club with all that pressure either. He’s built pretty beautifully and steadily into his career, a hard reset now wouldn’t suit his personality.
