I've read this a million times now and I'm not really sure what that actually means. Yeah it's only round 4 and it's been 4 rounds of pretty ordianry football by anyone's measure and I think supporters are well within their rights to be annoyed at how we are playing.

St Kilda and Geelong consistently playing team football, sticking to the structures in place and finding ways to win on a consistent basis. We are nowhere near that and even though we are so called contenders, I challenge anyone here to tell me that they go into any game confident of a solid 4 quarter effort from us.

From what I can gather, we are a great team of footballers, not a great football team. This was the very pattern Eade tried to break when he first came to the club and it seems old habits die hard. Eade himself has said that too many players do follow team rules and play for themselves.

We simply do not work hard enough from the midfield line up to the half forward line. We look slow and unless the ball is served with caviar and champagne our players refuse to make the effort required to follow up.

Our games have been error riddled and I refuse to believe the 'fatigue' line anymore. Our skill errors have been consistent from round one, sloppy hands, poor decisions, shocking disposal and not following team rules. I've noticed that since we've had Barry in our side our forwards have decided that they don't need work as hard and our mids have decided that bombing the ball inside 50 is the new 'black'.

No doubt when we are on we can beat anyone, but that's just the problem, we have a temporary on switch and rely on to few too often to get us over the line. We love to compare ourselves to Geelong and the saints when it's convenient to feel better about our shit start to the year... I'd be doing anything but trying to compare our club to the 2 clubs right now, they are so far in front of us it's just not funny. There is no way either of those clubs would or could dish up the kind of shit we have thus far, so it makes me worried about the state of our team moving forward.

Where are our leaders??? For a club with so many chiefs off the field, I'd like to see them on the field. Boyd for mine is our only leader, works till he vomits and never strops trying. His disposal may not be the best but he is not alone, if our whole team followed his lead we wouldn't be having these discussions.

If it were just this week I could swallow the whole "bruising game against the hawks, 2 injured, players were exhuasted". Our poor form has been present since round one therefore our problems go deeper than a bruising encounter against the hawks.

Once again, I beleive we are as good as Geelong and St Kilda, I believe that on paper we might have both of them on par if not better, what we don't have is the hard work, consistency and belief that they do, we need to fnd it and find it fast!!!!!!

I think what stings the most about our start to the year is that we have proven we can play the style of football to win us a premiership and simply fail to deliver on that standard each week!!

In general great post with a good summary on the way you see it.

The one thing that it fails to mention is that if this is the worst we play all year then we are still going to win 10-12 games.

Upside to this is that when we do eventually get some form we will be more than capable of winning against the other three, top four teams.

Its not a case of if but when our form improves. Our worst currently is better than the best of 10 other teams.

As frustrating as it is, all will be fine.

.

Absolutely no doubt about that, but it just seems that our formline is inconsistent and this leads to bad habits.

If we are to be in with a shot at the title we need to be a more cohesive unit. We may find that form in a few weeks, but I can only comment on what I have seen to date and it hasn't been pretty. What I have also said is that when we are firing we can beat anyone, it just seems that we really lagging this year for no obvious reason!

This board is absolutely ridiculous at times.

I'm all for being negative when its actually warranted, and our performance on the weekend did warrant criticism, we were crap - but this sort of negativity?

Asking for refunds - yeah, let's demand money back from the club after a bad game , writing us off for the year and accusing those who aren't throwing in the towel as accepting mediocrity and being the reason for mediocrity?

We have a reputation for being loyal supporters, how about actually doing something to justify this instead of acting like a kid throwing toys out of the cot.

I'm all for people being annoyed about the loss, but it's a 22 round season. Much rather be losing now than at the business end!
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

I agree 100% with this. Whilst I am not happy with the performance on Saturday night (you cannot expect to play 20 mins of decent footy and win the game), we have all heard more than once that the 22 Round Season is a marathon and not a sprint.

Some changes do need to be made however we have a number of games we should win over the next 3-4 weeks which if we get the job done will see us on track.

At this stage our focus needs to be on winning 14-15 games (say 13 of 18) to guarantee top 4 to give every chance to enter the finals with positive momentum. I am still confident we are good enough to do this.

Lets start by having a big win over the Crows on Friday which will set us up nicely to possibly inflict the Saints first loss the following week.

No offence, but the club doesn't owe you squat. Next year just don't by a membership.

Yes it does

The only club(excluding freo ) in 55 years not to play in a Grand Final

It owes us long time fans who go week after week a much better stat then that

If we dont have success soon and the biggest growth sport in our backyard (soccer) we better watch out

If I wanted entertainment I would get my Sony and Cher VHS tapes out

I want a flag and enjoy the ride on the way

Maybe support another team? Somebody like West Coast would be a good a bet. Lots of money so they can afford the best recruiters, coaches and scientists. They can hide a few kids away out in the bush. Probably average a flag every 10-15 years.

That's what I'd do if I wanted to win flag so I could masturbate over how good I was picking the best team in the league for a particular season.

I've always wondered if I'd even joy football as much if we did ever win a flag. I've been telling people for years the best bit of football is the journey.

You could always turn to crack? Easy highs, not to expensive to start out and you get a hell of a kick by all reports.

Really fred sonny and cher, entertainment ! shit we wern't that bad, well except for bohemian bob, now enough of this squabbling and off to bed with you boy's you got school in the morning

This is a classic "Grand stand" post by Fred Cook. You know the one where you get all the attention and it makes you feel important for a minute. When I first discovered this site, I used to do it. I have since matured, here's hoping Fred will one day.

i also wonder the same...

but am more than willing to take the chance...:thumbsu:

But you clearly don't enjoy the ride unless the team plays brilliant footy.

The club owe you nothing and IMO would be better off without people like you.

I want footy that the end results win a flag,I havent seen that this year hopefully that might change

I also dont want to be sitting here in 10 years time and freo and tiger fans informing how they have won flags recentley, why not you mob
