Autopsy A win for the true believers - swans down pies

Gotta say, I didn't hate McDonald in defence, I think it's good for him to build up that capability and without Melican I can see why we went that way. That said, we were missing the third tall presence all night, he should have been shifted forward 5 mins into the 3rd at the very latest.

I like Cleary but he adds nothing as a sub. Not versatile, not quick. Should play full games or not at all.

Florent kicked a nice goal and had a couple of good moments late but is still in otherwise shocking form. Needs to be dropped to find some form before finals. At the moment Corey Warner would add more in the same role.

Grundy's tap work was good but he was monstered in the air.

Hayward and Parker looked our only forward options for most of the game, kept us in it.

Roberts excellent once again, well and truly back to his form from earlier in the year.

Amartey presented up the ground super well, just sucked he didn't have enough to kick to, but about as good a goalless game as you could expect from a young key forward.

Blakey still just looks off. Effort is there but he's just not quite executing.

Hurts giving away Darcy Cameron for nothing he was their best tonight imo.

Blakey was abominable literally i have nfi what he was doing for the majority of that game.

Roberts has been a huge positive the past few weeks.

Campbell didnt do a lot, but neither did Adams
I still think they should play Campbell forward, not getting involved a lot otherwise. There was a great spoil on Elliott and a follow up tackle, then another big HTB tackle near their F50 arc (before Heeney played on) in the last, that didn't get a lot of notice.

Agree in every point except Florent. He plays a hard position that an inexperienced player like Corey Warner would struggle to fill. Given only two games until finals, I reckon we just have to stick with him and help him get back to form.

If we did drop Florent, I’d want Fox to take his role (don’t want Fox playing forward anyway).

On Blakey, it feels like he's doing exactly what he was doing for the first half of the year, just about 10% worse, which given how aggressive he is is enough for everything to come unravelled very quickly. If he can find that 10% again he'll be fine, but **** me is it frustrating.

Super pleasing. Showed great character to come back.
In the last quarter Heeney was massive but thought that Parker and Warner were huge too.
Hayward kept us in the game.
Great to see Logan kick an outside 50 in a big moment.
We needed to win a close one before finals.
Yes we are still working through several things but a few things they got right in the last - injecting Parker into the midfield, Heeney spending more time forward,
taking Mills out of the midfield and into defence.

I love that Logan took it in his stride. He could've went into his shell and let it knock his confidence, but he leaned into it and actually looked very comfortable.

Mccartin, Mills and Amartey are the ones who are worrying me. Florent almost made the list but his last qtr saved him, we know what he's capable of. Mccartin however has always been suspect and just plain dopey when ball hits the deck. And Amartey just does my head in at times, makes the hard look easy and the easy look hard - if he strung it all together he'd be a solid reliable player.

Campbell did some really courageous stuff.

Despite a couple of clangers I thought he was good - mainly because you could tell he was giving 100%.

Small defender still doesn’t seem his natural position - but we didn’t see a lot of Bobby Hill either.

I am sick and tired of our defenders punching the ball when they should mark it. Embarrassing
It's about structure. Melican out is huge & Rampe underdone. Thats why they sent Logan back which I think given his inexperience down back, did reasonably well. And McInerney out as our defensive wide midfielder compounds our defensive structure. Tonight's win was huge! Seals a double chance and another week closer to the return of Papley, Melican & McInerney. And another week under the belt for Mills, Parker and Rampe.

Agree, best thing we can do with Blakey is to keep backing him in.

Yes, those 6 names add up to about a third of the side.

oh..lord he coming
Need some tissues or moist wet wipes?
I don't think people are pansies for paying good money to go and watch the team we support play like garbage for the majority of the game then eventually get sick of it. Especially not after the last two weeks the players have shown themselves to be not up for it.
I'm not too proud to admit I turned the TV off after I got sick of seeing the Swans repeatedly get scored against without resistance. Nearly every inside 50 for the pies was a score.
Watching one of the key forwards have to play key defender because everyone else sucks and the other key defender drop a chest mark under little to no pressure.
Then midfielders perpetually "guarding space" rather than being accountable. Giving the opposition time to get a run going so that tackles kept getting broken.
Rowbottom having a genuine go in the first half was all that kept me watching it felt like. When he lost his mojo after half time and the pies went on a run I had had enough.
Well done coming back in the end but they need to seriously deal with whatever mental fragility has caused this current capitulation. It feels like that same big game weakness that saw them only just hold on against the pies in that home final then get absolutely creamed by Geelong.
No, you are just a weak supporter. Stop projecting. 😉

Tommy hasnt quite been the same since his concussion from the GWS game i hope he is okay.

If we're going to talk about anyone who didn't do alot, it has to be Mills.

Don't forget, we don't want Adams to be the main guy. Unfortunately we've turned to him recently because nothing else was working. Adams needs to be that 15 possie midfield supplement to the heavy hitters that we saw during our dominant run.
