Adam Cooney joins Essendon

Believe it or not a couple years ago I wasn't a fan of Dodoro; but I now think he's bloody crafty.

He managed to bring in three young players last year that all look likely to have decent AFL careers despite missing our first two picks - effectively countering the first year of our draft sanctions.

Add to that this year we now have two picks inside the top 20, AND our list profile allowed us to top us with senior players - he's done a pretty good job.

Exactly, Zac Merrett is as good and more than likely better than all the players taken in the second half of the first round of that draft which is where our pick would have been.

He can't run out games and is generally at his most effective in 5 min bursts at the start of quarters.

This has been evident for a number of years so why Essendon thought he would be a good get baffles me.

No 1 draft pick and excellent player in his day, just cruelled by a dodgy knee.

Though what's happened to Jobe Watson?

Shame you boys did not play hardball a little more, could have got Carlisle for free :D

yep, pretty much.

Hird needs to play the kids from here on in. A few have looked good this year, give them an extended run

I can understand a balanced approach, introduce them over a season rather than all at once.

But ffs Cooney should been the first to go. Shocking offensively and defensively.
