Adam Cooney joins Essendon

Saw this muppet with Jake Melksham at Spice Market last night. Looked like he was absolutely smashed around 11:00 ish. Not a good look to be hammered after a big loss, would've expected them to have had an early night and do some post match analysis the next day. Wtf were they thinking?

Be nice, I mean it is not like drinking, heck drinking every day is gonna make them play much worse :p

Another washed up hack that Essendon seem to think was a stellar selection. I mean how many more of Gwilt, Cooney, etc do you need before you question the recruitment. Sanctions aside who in their right mind would trade for these players

How you feeling after Friday nights loss? Got another team picked out for the switch yet?

Some teams are headed for the top floor, Doggies one of them, some teams are headed for the basement. Currently which direction do you think your boys are headed?

Where is all this evidence of teams bottoming out and then winning flags?

Of course you have to be up there to win one but that's not guaranteed either and some clubs just don't win flags and haven't decade after decade and yet some clubs just do and have don so for decades.

If Cooney, Gwilt, Chapman and Fletcher are so crap, then why will retiring them at the end of the year do us any harm?

They were at the clubs hall of fame function

Yeah, he's been shithouse. Could have had Lonie instead. :$
They took these players out of fear of suspensions being handed down by ASADA, and now potentially WADA. This is the only thing that makes sense to me. Why else would you take Cooney, Gwilt, Giles, Chapman & McKernan.
McKernan is looking more and more like a brilliant piece of business each week.

Exactly. Chapman and Fletcher out of contract. Bite the bullet and pay out Cooney, Giles and Gwilts contracts for next year and move on.

If they were really serious they would move on Dempsey, TBC, Pears and Winderlich as well.

Shop around Carlisle, downhill skiers Melksham and Stanton to see whether there's any interest and invest in the draft.

You don't recruit players from other clubs and cut them 1 year into their 2 year contracts, at least not if you want to draft any players from other clubs ever again.

Melk isn't a down hill skier and some of his best performances have actually been in losing sides he is just a limited footballer and can be inconsistant.

All good, happens. Still top 3, not a good night in Friday but still an enjoyable atmosphere. We can't play any worse than Friday

If you were Cooney, why the hell would you want to have gone to Essendon any way? With all the drug crap and potential sanctions waiting to be handed down at the time of free agency it almost seems moronic that you'd even consider wanting to go there, unless it was all about the $$

Because he knew the Dogs weren't going to play him. And he would have faced significantly more competition breaking into North's midfield than Essendon's. From Cooney's point of view I think the Bombers were the best way to squeeze an extra year or two out of his career.

It wont
I think it is because of the cost of having them on your list in 2015 and the lost opportunity to develop a mid-tier draftee - which across those four list spots - stand a good chance of at least generating one good prospect

Thank god he didn't follow through with his desire to come to Richmond. Injury hasn't helped to be fair.

At this stage, hes gonna give the Shotgun a run for our worst trade ever.
It's not that he is a bad player, it's the distinct lack of forward thinking by the list management team that's the concern.

Who's to say you would have picked up Jack Lonie with pick 37 last year, but he already looks better than what Cooney gave you on Sunday. Reckon he would slot right into your 22.

Got to say Adrian Dodoro is a genius.

He's been able to get a decent deal for Ryder.

He's managed to get decent ruck cover in Giles.

He's added to Essendon's midfield depth with Cooney.

Deserves a payrise.
Should be sacked. This is his list heading towards a spoon.
