If he is mentally in a really bad place (and this is not just media/AFL spin) stop booing.

There's reports that Goodes is considering walking away from the game and the matter is affecting his mental state. I think it's now clearly gone beyond the intent of booing whether racist or not. We are dealing with a fellow human being who has reached breaking point. I think the entire AFL public community should back off and let him play football. I'm no fan of his but I don't want to see this end badly either.

This is a stance that extends to all players that feel so aggrieved by systemic booing that they'd choose not to play because of it.

If you're one who chooses to boo and you claim it's not racially motivated then I respect your right to that freedom of speech and I will give you that benefit of the doubt that you're genuine about it not being racially motivated. My stance has simply shifted now to the point where I won't have sympathy for those who may cop the ire of other supporters around them or who may be subjected to ejection of the ground by security for apparent racist behaviour (despite what you may genuinely think to the counter) when the stigma attached to the act of booing Adam Goodes has become so obviously entrenched in racism - whether that has occurred rightly or wrongly or even in a logical way.

I'm not saying "don't boo". I'm saying "think about how you booing looks to a lot of people now that this stigma is attached to it in relation to Adam Goodes".

Is the stubbornness of retaining your right to boo a person for non-racial reasons worth having Goodes feel so terrible about it because he does think it is racial that he would not be able to attend his place of work worth it?

Actually all I'm saying is that I don't buy for a minute any of the media twaddle that's being bandied about these past 24 hours at the behest of the AFL propaganda machine....You however, are free to buy it piece-meal if you so desire.

Yeah Mitchell is about to walk away from the game for being booed and branded a kneer…….give me a break. Goodes should get on with it. My line of work has seen me abused constantly and I don't get paid hundreds of thousand of dollars to be put off my game.

I recall getting harassed by phone on regular basis at one point in time. I gave the caller my address and told him I had a coldy in the fridge if he wanted to come round and have a friendly discussion. Guess what phone the stopped ringing. A bit of good natured humility would not do Goodes any harm.

I totally agree this has been media driven and over blown. But the reality is that enough people (public in general, not just footy followers) believe that booing Adam Goodes is now racist behaviour. And it's quickly approaching the point where people will be ejected from games and have their memberships cancelled by their clubs for joining in. Sure they won't get many for it but they'll no doubt make an example of a few.

If you want to boo him, boo. But don't be surprised if people think you're racist. That's it.

It's not abuse/anger come on (not from me anyway). It is a game of football. My threats were on my home phone and directed at me and my family. I would suggest the footy field is pretty safe if booing is all you have to worry about.

I don't see any anger in that post m8!....Maybe, just maybe Goodes needs to take on board your advice there....And that includes his complicit friend Mr Jetta....They planned this move against Carlton & have now done it 2x....And you are all hood-winked.

But there is something about Goodes that shits me. I have no idea what it is. It is intangible. Selwood shits me to tears as well. There is something entitled about the way they play and conduct themselves.

I just cannot cop this whole thing being reduced to racism. I am basically being labelled a racist because I refuse to like Adam Goodes. It is insane.

But then I agree that the booing is juvenile and petty and completely futile.

And I also agree that Goodes has contributed to this.
