So it was a bit of a tribute to some under 16s kids who taught him their war dance and seemed genuinely surprised that someone thought it might be a reaction to something untoward. Not aimed at anyone for anything, beyond some young indigenous players.

End thread.

Ok, so Goodesy just said that the boomerang dance wasn't incited by anyone in the crowd, it was a pre-meditated tribute to some indigenous youngsters.

It just happened to be aimed at the Carlton cheer squad with a look of sheer anger and aggression in his face.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up Adam.

I don't mind the act.

It's the hypocrisy that kills me.
In my opinion, if any other player or coach made such an aggressive gesture to opposition fans the AFL would come down on them with a serious fine. The media would be tut tutting.

I suspect we'll see the exact opposite tomorrow.
Fair call, imagine if Alastair Clarkson did it!

Just a heads up guys. Indigenous Aussie dances are not all war dances in fact very few are. What Goodes did was a staple of many dances that are used from anything to traditional greetings to birthdays. Relax.

Frustrating that people can be so ignorant.

There are many dances, that vary from tribe to tribe, region and family, that change over time and depending on season, or locale. It's a way of communicating and of passing on history.

Well Goodes just called it a war dance. So frustrating that he could be so ignorant...

Interesting Adam just called it a war cry himself.

Looked liked one, he called it one but you say its not. OK
He said it want out of anger and that's the way it looked to me. Proper war dances are based in the notion to kill. Seems like it wasn't.

Perhaps people just need to stop living in the past.

Don't be assuming that White Australia is racist, but minority Australia never is. That is insulting in the same way that any discrimination is.

Don't be trying to blame me or make me feel guilty for something that happened over 200 years ago just because I am a White Australian.

In equal respect it is probably just as prudent not to boo people for their past actions but only on their current in the same manner. Yes, if any player does something dirty in a game, regardless of race, sexuality or personal lifestyle choices I will boo them til the final siren, and you do not have the right to judge me or assume I am a racist or bigot or homophobe or other......

Disappointing thread. Still much education needed.
The people who need education are the ones who immediately yell racism if somebody insults them i.e. Adam ****ing Goodes

on a weekend when people are meant to be coming together, he makes a stupid, selfish gesture which does nothing but separate people and push people apart.

Can only imagine that someone like Michael Long would be pretty embarrassed about this

We wouldn't even be having this discussion/debate if he'd just play the bloody game

Sums up the majority opinion I would think.
Good post

The reasoning was quite valid, although I still think unnecessary and a cringeworthy moment that will ensure that the indigenous round will be all about Adam once again - it's a shame he chose to do it towards the carlton crew as it was for all intents and purpose aggressive but the media have bought it and will spin it in to a positive

So anyone who doesn't agree with what Goodes says or does is a racist in your opinion? Congratulations you're a complete and utter farking moron.
Not necessarily. If you have a legitimate reason to think he is a flog, by all means you're allowed to. But so far all you've really said is essentially "he is a flog because he is a flog"...not exactly the most sound reasoning going around...

So the question that went unanswered in the previous post still stands...

Goodes' style is in-your-face.

People call it "seeking fanfare".

He's just an angry ****in bloke who wants change and recognition.

There's plenty of people who agitate for other change in a similar way. And it's ok to be that way - as long as your cause isn't the indigenous one.

Indigenous fighters should be reserved, non threatening, behind the scenes, know-their-place types when they are trying to affect change.

Australians don't like uppity blackfellas.
Americans didn't like Martin Luther King.
