Regardless of the Dodoro factor, there is no way a contracted Saad is getting a top 10 pick without something significant coming back. Exactly the type of player to go for 15-20 IMO
Uncontracted you mean.

But yeah it does make things interesting. His range is quite small and most of the clubs keen don't have the pick.

Thanks fixed.

I suppose hardly anyone ever goes for a straight swap these days, it ALWAYS got junk pick swaps here or there.

Why on earth would Saad be contemplating a move to Carlton? They are further from success than us.

Melbourne, North, meh. Let's be honest, the agent is playing the game to bump up the $$ and he will stay.
let's not kid ourselves.
They may only be a rung above us on the ladder, but the trajectories are vastly different.

That said, going off form, we'll be 8th next year with the same pos % and get belted again :p

Nah Essendon’s list is no good - players are cottoning on. No genuine elite talent and lacking in quality key position players with Daniher wanting to leave and Hurley and Hooker on the brink. They are in for a few years of pain.

It’s far more about Essendon being really bad than it is about any potential suitors being really attractive destinations.

Pick 15 is fair and noting this draft is heavily compromised.

Will be tough as we dont have a pick in that range.
your 1st and we send some change back.
as you said, compromised draft. Outside JUH, seems anyone could go anywhere. Imagine most recruiters are gonna grab the kid they like the most vs. trying to pick the better player.

Frost was massively improved this year. If we can get Saad for a 2nd round we should definitely throw our hat in the ring.

Sadly Hawthorn don’t have much cap space to use because they signed busted up players like Scully and Patton on big contracts, but Shaun McKernan is now available and fits Hawthorn’s current recruiting model.

Haha

Clarko has a gone a bit senile just like Sheedy was in his finals years at Essendon Sheedy was picking up guys like Camporale,Madden,Justin Murphy

We have 17 out of contract players and Scully and Patton got longer but lower $$$ contracts.

Other than that you seem to be quite insightful on our list management.

And regardless of who we pick up we will beat Carlton again in 2021.

I suspect the trend of gifting Hawthorn token wins is over and fully expect us to roll over the lowly Hawks next year.

Patrons on 360k a year. Where did the big contract idea come from?

Scullys on about 400k. With the extra year added with no extra money. The issue was GWS were going to be over the cap. With a player on 500k not playing in a year/s they were challenging.

So we have a terrible year with an insane amount of injuries and bad luck which means we are going to be in for years of pain?

We have far more talent than Carlton, don't kid yourself. Whilst we can speculate on players that want to leave, the reality is that the list is not in as bad a shape as the media wants you to believe.

McGrath
Parish
Smith
Daniher
Merrett
Shiel
Ridley
Hurley
Heppell
Stringer
Saad
Walla
Draper
Langford

This is a group that is young enough to take the club forward and compete. I don't see any of the mentioned suitors other than Richmond being in any better position, so he would only be leaving for $$$, which in the end Essendon will match and he will stay.

Bias if I have ever seen it.

You no "A graders" on that list, mainly B's at best and a portion of those players best football is now behind them.

Carlton have Cripps who would walk into any team in the league and better youngsters coming through.

A grade is such a wank term

Mcgrath, Shiel, Hurley, Daniher, Saad, Stringer, Smith, Draper, Ridley etc. They have plenty of talent on their list.
