A grade is such a wank term

Mcgrath, Shiel, Hurley, Daniher, Saad, Stringer, Smith, Draper, Ridley etc. They have plenty of talent on their list.

Not really, a common theme for most premiership teams, or even just very good teams, is they'll have some of the best players in their position. Apart from Saad, who I rate as one of the better rebounding defenders, and Ridley who I rate as of the best intercepting half backs in the league, all those guys you've listed are decidedly B-grade, which has been an issue for Essendon for a long time.

Which team is Melbourne's closest rival? Is it maybe also a case of trying to manufacture some competition because they don't have the same traditionally rivalries as us? (v Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond)
Not that I give a shit but our rivalry with Collingwood out dates yours so do some research.

Uh huh. But Carlton have generational talent on every line right?

Currently got one of the best inside midfielders, one of the best CHB's, one of the best HBF's and one of the best wingman in the league along with the a couple of gun key forwards who could very well enter that top tier in the next few years.

We're doing alright.

Sounds to me like a whole bunch of A graders

Haha no one gives a flying fu** about you playing Collingwood or Richmond or Essendon anymore.
I enjoyed beating Carlton in the last round of 2016. That was our grand final, we did good. Beat your mob that year too actually, that was brilliant, our first scalp as a team that was not expected to take any that year.

But in fact this is all quite off topic, so perhaps get back to talking about Saad and how he’s worth a fifth rounder or whatever

Imagine being a smug Essendon supporter before a trading and draft period where there's a very real scenario where you lose Saad, Daniher, Fantasia, Hooker, Hurley and now Merrett lol.

Aren't the point of rivalries about how the clubs themselves and the supporters feel about it though?

For example, we ****ing hate Carlton with a passion and it's reciprocated. Seems like a pretty solid rivalry to me.

Smug? About 2016? 😂😅

There’s a rivalry with Carlton. But the Melbourne game was just as enjoyable so obviously rivalries aren’t everything. Which was what their tangent was about and as a mod I was trying to get the thread back on topic. But sure, play the (wo)man. See how far that gets you.

and yet finished with half a game result better than us.
And we were one of the biggest **** shows i've seen in years.

:/

I don't know if Adam Saad would rank Essendon or his time at the Gold Coast as more embarassing.

Hopefully gets to a club with a bit more professionalism.

Clearly thats us. You can even buy Carlton monogrammed business ties from the club shop. If that isnt the hallmark of professionalism then I dont know what is!

Need some more players to step up for sure, but Essendon's list strategy has been to bring in a heap of players from other clubs. Despite a big recruiting push over 2017-2018 and also bringing in a bunch of top end picks over 2015-2016 they're still missing finals in 2020.

Hurley is the wrong side of 30 and is rumored to want out.

Ditto Joe and he is made of glass

I'm not sure if there is an overabundance of talent at the bombers. Saad would be a significant loss imo
