I agree pick 7 was overs. Now that Carlton have pick 8. I think that’s exactly what he’s worth.
Agreed, Pick 7 overs, Pick 9 unders, I think Pick 8 is the sweet spot.
We're here to collect pick 8. Pick 7 is too much I agree.
If you stall and Adelaide receive band 2, then pick 9 is no longer enough. Act quick before it's too late.
Come on down pick 8
Yes, I asked the question, and it turns out the premise of my question was inaccurate, Essendon supporters did say something along that line, 12 days and 800 posts ago. No one has been able to progress the conversation since then.

I would suggest that now that we've established that hardly any Essendon supporters are saying this, continuing to state that as a fact will be considered baiting and treated accordingly.

If you'd like to know why some specific person said something, quote their post and ask them about it.

*cough*

Lore. You still there?

Can’t see any alternative. Happy to hear your suggestions though...

I know Saad has come out and said he'd walk to the draft, but I could never see us following through with such a tactic. The Carlton I know would never walk a player to the draft. Especially not when the asking price was a top 10 pick and other clubs with higher picks hotly interested. That would be madness.

Wouldnt it?

I'm super confused as to what has changed whatsoever regarding Saad as a result of the Daniher comp...

Is anyone ever going to attempt to answer reasonably why Carlton would pay the highest price in the history of the trade period, for an OoC, HBFer? Especially with what I have posted several times about comparable players in the past.

Saad may well have said that, but we’ll politely tell Carlton that we’ll redraft him with Pick 6 or 7. Madness eh.

Zac Jones Swans to Saints is comparable, pick 36 or something like that it was done for. Mid/late teens is about right IMO but the Dodo will hold out. If I'm Carlton, no way am I giving 8 (9 after we get pick 2 for Crouch).

Feel free to quote them individually if you'd like an explanation for their opinions :)

I'm quoting you for your response and your explanation.

"Straw man"
"disingenuous"
"sealioning"
"trolling"

Which supporters are doing what now?

Wont happen. Player welfare is too high a focus. Players who requested a trade and dont get traded dont get picked up by their original club. Hasnt happened in the past, wont happen now.

Essendon will cut their losses.

IS this the Saad thread or Daniher got band 1 compo thread?

Don't worry we won't. Saad is uncontracted. We will pay what is fair in our eyes.

After tomorrow Adam Saad is as free as a bird. He’s walked, gone , the EFC have not been too gracious about it either.
So if Dodoro continues to be obstinate, there’s only one possible ending to the saga, Jack Martin all over again.

I feel like you’re going to end up very disappointed with the end result on this one. Stay strong my friend.

Nope. It’s on Carlton to get the deal done. We don’t want to trade him remember.

Carlton are powerless. The PSD is out. The ND is out. The split picks is out. It’s Pick 8 or he’s back at Essendon and Carlton won’t let that happen.

I've said multiple times I'm happy to take any bet, from anyone that Carlton will not trade their first pick outright for Saad.

I'll await your response as you are so confident.

You are absolutely dreaming if you think this is true and are not trolling.

The chances of Essendon re-drafting Saad are effectively zero. Please explain why they would be the first club ever to do it let alone spend a first round pick doing so. Why has that changed because of the Daniher compo?

Saad has cleaned his locker out and his management have reportedly confirmed he is happy to walk to the drafts if Essendon play hard ball for him, when he is OoC. I'm not suggesting he will go to the draft and hope he doesn't, but to say Essendon are holding all of the cards, let alone any is very naive and unfounded.

I think Saad is certainly above Jones' level, but you won't find many Essendon friends with that kind of logic. I agree with you btw... No comparable player to Saad, let alone one without a contract has ever commanded a pick in the top 10. I have asked ad nauseum for a reason, any reason, why Carlton would be the first club in the history to pay that price and provided relevant examples. It's basically been crickets.

I think an OoC Saad is worth a late first/early second and have said that all along.

Restraint of trade. Essendon wont do it. Neither the AFL. Just like they didnt let Gold Coast do last year. Wont happen.

Guaranteed he wont be at Essendon next year.

Carlton just have to find a single suitor happy to downgrade a first and change for Pick 7.

We then flick that pick to Essendon for Saad and we’re on our merry way.
And yet for many, the thought of downgrading pick 8 to Essendon and receiving back Saad and change is diabolical despite the end result being practically the same. Go figure.
