Is it really that hard to drive to Tullamarine compared to Princes Park? I don't buy it.

I don't understand this comment?

I clearly posted that he wants to stay at Essendon above all else and if he can't get his terms, then he wants to play for Carlton.

He lives in Brunswick so Im sure being able to drive ten minutes to training as opposed to Arden Street is appealing (unless he's being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars more to do so - see Jake Carlisle).

This is the entire post I was responding to:
Carlton has the most free cap space in the league and rightly should be using this to their advantage ahead of the list cuts that all teams will need to make.

I think they could easily accommodate Saad and Williams.

According to the media; it seems the intention is to play Williams as a midfielder, however our HBF line isn’t as deep as we’d like; Docherty, Newman, Williamson and SPS (who should be aiming to play as a midfielder) and needs much more ‘dynamic’ run and carry and line breaking pace to get the ball in quickly to our mobile talls.

He wants to play at Carlton due to:

1. Contract on offer
2. Close proximity to his home/family
3. He was close to joining when he originally left GC, but we couldn’t get close to what was on offer from Essendon.
If you can tell me which part of this says "he wants to stay at Essendon above all else and if he can't get his terms, then he wants to play for Carlton", or something to that effect, then I can see why you wouldn't understand my comment. If not, then it should be clear that I haven't read every post in this thread.

So is his main priority to save ten minutes driving to work each morning?

Do you have a source for that? I'm curious to read about each club's cap space.

A cunning ploy from Carlton’s list management group has left the club able to hit the trade and free agency period hard over the next 24 months.

With the retirements of Simpson and Kruezer you can add an extra 1.2 million to the million or so we had banked for next year.

Pretty straightforward.. read first, comment second.

I see. Do you commonly read every single post in every thread, and memorise who said what? The post I quoted made zero reference to the previous one.
No but I also don't tend to call out other posters without first bothering to understand what they're actually saying.

So Blues have secured Willams on a fat contract and want Saad who will also demand a fat contract.

That's a lot of money from the cap on 2 players.

Saad isn't a FA so Essendon will be asking a lot in trade.

Money we have.

And he is uncontracted which affects the overall value. Anything more than a pick in the teens is too much.

He was actually playing better when he was with the Suns than he has with the Bombers, just that he was off broadway.

They got him for a 2nd rounder when he was in contract, is 3 years older, with only 3 more prime years remaining as a back pocket/flanker and is now worth more as a 1st rd pick.

That's Essendon at the trade negotiation table for you.

Like winning trades more than games.

In his three years at GC he finished top 10 in the B&F twice - an 8th and a 10th. In sides that won 4, 6 and 6 games.

In his first two years at Essendon he finished 4th and 3rd. In sides that we’re literally twice as good in winning 12 and 12 games.

Then last night he finished 3rd again.

I’d love to hear on what objective basis he was “playing better” at Gold Coast.

Three years younger.
