The most likely outcome will be pick 8 for Saad and 2021 2nd rounder. Think Carlton will be surprise how good Saad is (plus a pick in the 2021 super draft) and Essendon get a first pick to trade for Dunkley. Win-win.

The thing is if Essendon trade a future second as part of the deal, it means they can't trade a future first for Dunkley.
That could become problematic should the Bulldogs refuse 2020 first rounders.
Be a pretty attractive offer to get pick 7 and 8 for Dunkley if you were the doggies. They could have 3 top 10 picks

Picks 7 and 8 won't provide much benefit to the Dogs.
They'll end up burning two of those picks on matching a bid for JUH.
Given the strength of next years draft, clubs may be reluctant to trade futures for those selections too.

I've already stated I think Saad + 3rd round for 8 is a good deal. Anything more than that from Essendon isn't gonna happen.

Saad + future 2nd is still a bog average deal for us. To say a 3rd rounder is a good deal and we’d be lucky to get anything is just nuff. So far off the mark.

A bit of both really. Pick 8 alone is a great deal for Carlton, because in reality it's pick 11 and you are getting a jet. We would have to be very lucky to get a player of the same quality at pick 11

I guess the argument would be the value of next years unknown pick in a higher rated draft vs the known pick in a lower rated draft dictates if the 3rd rounder should be coming back to Carlton...
