Oh hell we cant sack simpson. What would the media department do when they don’t have all pre season to come up with snazzy camera angles and backing music for a dog race.?

"They just imagine it, even when asked to point these excuses out and fail to do so, they just keep going."

Because Simmo pissed in their cornflakes.

I was going to angle down the line of "the vicco media might go easier on a female, gay or indigenous coach" but thought hmmmm

I find it fascinating that the entire footballing world has empathised with our situation and basically the only person not giving excuses is Adam Simpson, yet there are intellectuals in here bagging him out for things he hasn’t even said. They just imagine it, even when asked to point these excuses out and fail to do so, they just keep going.

Simpson’s got legitimate excuses laying in his lap which most fair minded people would acknowledge but it’s like he’s going out of his way not to mention them. He can’t win with some people. Damien Hardwick had a whinge because they missed 1 whole player last weekend due to Covid, which is embarrassing and worth highlighting if your coach is deflecting to that extreme - Simpson has been in damage control since round 1 and not made a peep. You’d think the winners in here would appreciate his approach instead of making shit up so they can bag him out.
Hardwick's whinge was ridiculous. Stack was supposed to play in the VFL, NOT the senior side.

Going early, but this first quarter ‘effort’ reminds me of a quote from the new FB movie (no spoilers).

“Do the right thing, not the easy thing”

Simpson made the easy selections. Certainly not the right ones.

Stop backing in the players who have let us down for the last 3 seasons. Especially coming off our best win since the GF.

Time for him to go. This is not an overreaction. This dates back to last year when it looks like he lost the players and his tactics finally unraveled. It's shown to be happening again. We didn't rebuild at the draft last year and it's put us another season behind the likes of Adelaide, North etc. We've kept the likes of Gaff a year too long and others like Kennedy and Hurn who are on their last legs. We have absolutely no Plan B when Nic Nat is out. Williams is a trier but lets face it he's a good WAFL Ruckman at best, why didn't we target a Ruck in the draft or through a creative trade?

The stalling of development of players like Rotham, Harry Edwards to name a few is a concern also. Didn't anyone tell them to put on a bit more muscle during the off-season?

Yes against Sydney we are without two of our best players and a few others but there is absolutely no excusing the lack of effort and one dimensional tactics we put out there.

Look at the inside 50 count tonight 10-39. Where is the desperation? it's certainly not from Simmo's captains picks he brought back this week. The treatment of the likes of West, Hough & O'Neill getting dropped is just exactly similar to what happened last year, Shuey, Yeo and Kelly just don't offer as much as maybe they once did. Two out of three of them are on their last legs and Kelly; whilst not a bust, certainly his trade has played a part in our ultimate demise as a premiership threat given the farm we sold for him.

I don't trust him to rebuild this list, it's time to move onto a more modern thinking coach. Maybe someone already we had in our nest last season like Jaymie Graham?.

He's lucky that he has reportedly a two year deal remaining. I fear for our efforts in the remainder of the year.

Time to move him on to a more modern thinking coach, like the coach he trained up from scratch and was with him throughout his whole career to date.

Didn’t rebuild in the draft in which we loaded up on players, one of which was a mid certain to play round 1, the next of whom has played multiple games this season. Did a cheap pick swap with Port and picked up what is currently pick #20 in the coming draft as a result.

Merging this with one of the other two. Which one, I’m not sure, whichever one takes my fancy while I watch the Auskick and see what a structured game of footy looks like.

Keeps rewarding the old timers, get the youth out their and see what we have, dont want the club to be left in the same postion when lyon left st kilda

Currently sitting in the oppo coaches box at Optus wearing red.

C’mon down Dean Cox

I’m not opposed to the concept at all, but can people articulate why they want Schofield as a coach beyond he’s allegedly a hard bastard?

I’m rapt we got him, he’s rated very highly in the industry and that’s worth more than the fans view from the outside because it’s hard to attribute success and failures of strategy from the outside. The question isn’t a criticism of him at all.

Midfield and stoppage work all season has been deplorable - 90% attributed to availability woes and then tonight with a reasonably best looking midfield (sans Nic which would surely be the case any way by the time he took over) we were worse than we’ve been all year.

What does a Schofield coached team look like that we’re all so keen for it?

Simpson referred to our side tonight as a ‘young group’.

Is that even true? As far as I know we were a lot more experienced than the players put out by Sydney tonight. Happy to be proven wrong, if I am.

I am deeply concerned about the state of our list going forward. Where is our young talent through the middle?

Mathew Knights at Essendon proved he couldn't coach a shit out of his arseh*le yet we put him in charge of our midfield. Hated the appointment when it was first announced and even allowing for COVID/Injuries I hate it even more.
