I'm sure by persisting with what we have this past 4 years Simmo will fix this rot. He just needs to stop the regression all those seniors have had under him, get 6-8 under 23's to have breakout seasons and the entire AFL to be blindsided by his revolutionary 2015 era game plan.

The end goal isn’t ‘be better than Collingwood’ because we don’t play in a two team league, but I’m pretty willing to make a bet about where the Pies finish next year if all these ‘change the coach, ???, profit’ think this is anything other than the most unsustainable flash in the pan in AFL history.

It’s the attitude and the buy in that I think only a new coach can provided. I don’t care where the Pies finish, it’s about the dedication to their cause that is just brilliant.
New message, new culture, new non negotiables.
We are moving forward with Simmo so hopefully he can create something that even he can’t see at the minute. Be an interesting next year.

Apropos of nothing, here’s a thread that someone bumped on the main board today.

I agree. Kudos for the coach - he can coach. But for how long? And does he know how to build a side? Because if the cattle aren't top 4, it doesn't matter how good a coach he is, he won't be able to sustain the message for long enough.

I'm pretty sure they're light on talent. Maybe they strike it lucky and win the flag this year or jag the draft. But I think it's a false dawn. Happier with where we are at.

He was hardly going to say yeah we need a tent maker for NIc Nats jumper or its an optical illusion that 75% of the side have guts hanging over the belt line… perception is reality definitely applies to our group however….

Simpson is a shit coach and whether we win tomorrow night in JK’s send off game is irrelevant, I stand by that. Nelson as a midfielder, Gaff as an inside midfielder, a complete lack of action on game day.
I don’t give a **** about the list of excuses Covid, injury, blah, blah, blah.
He needs to go ASAP in my opinion.

But tell me what you really think about Simmo

We all know how much of a knob Kane Cornes is but he is right about the team being overweight and unfit. If you are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars per year and have a whole team of medical staff and coaches around you, I don't understand why you can't step out on the ground in fighting trim. It's just disrespectful to everyone around you and the fans too. In the first weeks of the season when we were playing WAFL lineups, and the actual senior players were all sick or injured, there was an excuse. There's none now, more than ten weeks later.

Great examples. Gaff’s been used very rarely in the middle since the bye and I can’t remember the last time Nelson was used as a midfielder.

The afl media got excited about what ed langdon said about the pies. Their head would explode if a coach came out with this one.

Bit harsh on Simpson

* I assume he’s talking about Simpson because otherwise there’s no relevance to this thread

Lot's of players play injured all the time. McGovern should have not played in the 2018 gf if that's what you think. Gaff I'm sure would not have played much this year if the Eagles didn't have the year from hell with Covid and serious injuries.

If he is so so injured why is he playing now? Why has he played since the bye?
Players can play injured when it doesn’t greatly effect there output.

Our usual MO is to play injured players unless continuing to play will worsen the injury. Then we send them in for surgery in the off-season so they can suffer a setback in the preseason, wait to see if it heals on its own, send them in for surgery again and promise they'll be back sometime after the bye.

No thanks…
Naish, clark, winder , trew. If the guys not fit whats the point?? Its not as if he is a game changer or game winning player when he is 100%.
I only mentioned those players you always say that they are not AFL standard, because apart from Naish. Then who?

So confirmation we will finish with 2 wins for the entire season with the loss today, could still finish last. Roos play Adelaide away and G.C at Marvel, not impossible.

No point in continuing to bag Simpson right now as it's pointless, he's there next season. He'll want to get his shit together in the off-season or else he'll be under the blowtorch during the season.
