It really shows that he's burnt out. Why do we feel the need to carry him? He's in a prestigious, highly paid position that many would give their arm for. Let the next ambitious coach have a go if simpson is cooked. I'm not against Simpson but these are red flags.

Getting on the front foot for the excuse next year when we are 0-4 that because he was on leave he hasn’t built synergy with the team or new young guys yet ….

Aaaaaand what happens if we start winning games and the players "coincidently" start cracking in and playing better football for the new coach?

Serious question.

How many games do you think we’ll play between September and November

Serious question

Simmo should take it if offered.

I had a boss once who had put off taking long service leave - was obviously burnt out. Staff pleaded with him to take it. The board instructed him to take it. He reckoned he didn't need it and the company needed him too much to take time off. The following year he was let go because of some not-so-smart management decisions on his behalf. He should have taken it.

Id give Simmo the leave now, have him freshen up for the off season and let the assistants deal with the b side we have out their now.

We aren't developing game plans and such with the shit show currently, give him the fresh list for 2024 and start again.

I don't have a problem with him having 3 months off. The players are off for most of that time anyway. Surely his assistants can handle whatever needs to be done in that timeframe.

But if they want to reduce the stress and burden on Simpson i have a better idea for them - how about the people above Simpson in the food chain (i.e. Nisbett and people on the Board) admit that the list is in an absolute state, and is in fact the worst in the comp, and that that hapenned because several departments at the club including list management, high performance, S&C, development, drafting etc etc have all very, very badly underperformed for a significant period of time now and that has resulted in Simpson not having much raw material to work with on the track and on game day? How about they admit how badly the people in charge have misjudged things and how badly the various departments at the club (that Simpson is not in charge of or responsible for) have let him down?

Admit the real state of affairs at the club instead of the Potemkin village they are trying to construct and get other people at the club to put their hand up and take some responsibility and share the blame around a bit. Instead they all hide behind Simpson, including Nisbett who has been in hiding all week, and push out media messaging that totally sells him down the river by conditioning supporters to expect a top 8 finish like they did at the end of last season. I am sure that would relieve some stress for him.

Nisbett is leaving at the end of 2024 season ..

What actually is the point in keeping him on? #whatsthepointinpersisting

Our finals push gonna be blown is it?

We gonna get embarrassed on field are we?

We can't implement the whiz bang new game plan that's been so good without him?

Gee I'd hate for any of that to happen ^

Makes all the sense in the world to be immediate. Catya pre season in December We'll dial in to get your thoughts on the draft before then.

It may well be but I distinctly remember lecras being carried through the best part of 2 x seasons. Small forwards don't exactly have a reputation for contributing in the twilight years, so if lecras was still a solid contributor, it would have been out of the ordinary. I only raised this as it shows a trend of what appears to be Simpson having a hard time being cut-throat with the senior players.

Lecras finished 14th in the B&F in 2017 and 12th in 2019

Fourth most goals for the club (32) in 2018 and third (also 32) in 2017

So not outstanding finishes by any stretch but it’s an indication he wasn’t carried as you suggest

His mentorship to the likes of Rioli, Ryan and Venables through 2018 was also important for those young forwards

That's literally all that Tunbridge could do. He is a example of the kind of draft picks and player development that got us into this mess.
This is just nonsense. Tunbridge averaged just 10 games a season in his time at West Coast.

He was kept on too long but his lack of durability was the biggest issue he had.

Tunbridge was a throw away meme line gaiz, no need to read too much into it.

Other options for that line i considered were:

Lewy Broome
Tom Swift
Clive Waterhouse

Give Knights or Schoey (or both) a chance to audition for a future head coach gig at the club? ;)
