What rumors did they make up? Remember you’ll need to list about 400 to get close to your 99% otherwise you’re making stuff up and wouldn’t that be ironic?
Don’t forget it was Williams brought up the players tied up, not McClure or Caro.

Here are a few refuted rumours. Don't know who made them up. If the denying of the rumours is false, and players are so aggrieved, why haven't the camp organisers been sued?...or have they? Seems to me the successful suing was done by the organisers.

Collective minds got them to retract their stories. It wasn't because there stories were legit. It's incredibly hard to get a story retracted. Collective minds proved them wrong. Eddie all but confirmed through his book his experiences were what the initial foundation of the camp stories were built on. Those articles weren't retracted. It was all the follow up pile on of unsubstantiated rumours that made it to print that to this day, not a single person associated with the camp has ever come forward to reveal they were the source. The only noise was only ever around what we just knew.

Now.

Just because a camp was s**t, doesn't make everything you read about it in a newspaper true. In the same way 99.9% of trade rumours reported during trade week aren't true. The AFL media keep proving they are untrustworthy. If the camp story had come out by a respected industry investigative journalist, you could argue sure...might be something to this. But the only ones ever breaking news on the camp with new rumours were Caro, Sam and Barrett, which was astonishing considering SA has its own journalists. Nothing was ever mentioned on the sports shows and we are talking identities who have deep connections with players who could have gone public with allegations and protected the players identity. Everyone said the same thing. It's been blown up, storm in a tea cup, nearly everything is untrue.

Betts book pretty much confirmed what we knew to be true. There was literally nothing new. I don't know why you all of a sudden want to fist pump in anger and believe the rubbish rumours again.

He was the face of the boards decision. He didn't personally appoint anyone. There were committees. Yes he was friends with Burton. This is where most people just have drawn the links. Burton was tasked with running the show and it's his **** up. Roo made the mistake of trusting his mate. Everyone makes mistakes. Build a bridge, it's not all roos fault.

No I’m just looking for one or two rumors outside of mark Williams that wasn’t true?
Shouldn’t be too hard given 99% of rumors were false.

Also the club did stuff up on an extraordinary level, not sure how that’s even debatable.

If what Eddie says is untrue, then given there was 50+ players and coaches in attendance, many of whom are no longer at the club so can speak freely, we will wait and see how many people deny what Eddie has said.

If there is silence then it’s pretty clear what he has said is all true.

I never said what he said is untrue. All I suggested is we now know who the original source was. Also exaggeration doesn't make it untrue. But everything sounds bad when written on paper in a negative connotation and no real length of time. So we have these monster type pictures in our head of the events based on what he wrote but the absence of the perspective of time makes it hard to put a turn reflection of reality to it.

None of what I have said is stating he doesn't have a right to be pissed either. I just like to know the truth in its truest form.

Speaking of compensation, if Betts was genuinely traumatised, wouldn’t he be going the route of compensation either against the AFC or CM? Otherwise, he’s merely recounting a bad experience of a badly run camp, mostly likely also one not mindful as much of aboriginal culture.

Let's be honest here. Since Roo came onboard he has done the club no favours either through his poor list management or poor recruitment of people with bad character such as Brett Burton. It's time Roo moves on from the club.

It appears that Betts has confirmed some of the rumours about the camp.
For me, the mis-use of Indigenous artefacts sounds like CM are just dumb. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be insulting, more just stupidity. Was it insulting? To the Indigenous players yes. By itself probably not a huge deal, more of an apology situation.

The biggest one from my perspective is that Betts confirms that sensitive information from private sessions was used against players in a public setting. I'm sorry, but that is just not on. That is an incredible breach of trust.

I'm really sad that Betts' time with us has now been stained in this way. He was one of my all-time favourite Crows. Unfortunately, I think he had reason to be very upset.

Putting it all together, if this is true:

If the story is true - that Betts raised concerns and was then dumped from the leadership group (a decision which Rory would have been part of), Sloane's constant public comments in support of the camp are disgraceful and make his position as Captain untenable.

The Captain is supposed to lead the playing group. He abandoned sections of it. No wonder we had such a fractured group.

The story from Eddie Betts is quite important as it vindicates Caro and McClure - both deserve an apology from anyone that slammed them as this story from Betts is confirmation that they were 100% reporting the truth.

Don’t know about it vindicating the truth, it’s just one persons assertions (denied by others) - but it certainly reveals who their source was

Pretty clear who was salting the wounds, twisting the knife through out. No wonder it never healed when there was a sneaky protagonist feeding the fire all along

Most of what you said is hard to argue. But the removal from the leadership group being linked to voicing his complaints as he put it and stating he and other indigenous players wont work with collective minds again just feels like an open accusation of racism towards the club by him. As I said, it fits the time line of rumours appearing publicly and it was not a secret where it was coming from, and leaking club information to the press is more than a valid reason to be removed from the leadership group.

That’s entirely the wrong take. No one has any incentive to respond further, and frankly these assertions have been denied repeatedly.

I’ll be interested if anyone backs him up? But I suspect no one without a book to sell can be arsed to rehash any of this
