The "Made From South Australia" theme is a positive sign. Our football history is strong and proud. It was the foundation for our club and it's been lost in the last 20 years amongst northern states expansion, Victorian control of the competition and directionless AFC administrators. Our history became 1997 and 1998, with little before and not much since. That seemed to sit comfortably with the likes of Bickley and Ricciuto, who fill and influence our airwaves.

We should be one of the strongest clubs in the competition. No interstate club has a bigger following when playing in Melbourne than we do. It took our Premier to make a successful play for Gather Round, which has re-instilled some pride and recognition of the part football plays in this state.

We should be leveraging our football history to make us stronger. Representing South Australia on the national stage. Advocating for, and taking advantage of, our location as one of only two clubs that occupy a state with footy in its bloodlines. We should also be significantly bigger than the mob down the road and that comes with being made from all the South Australian football clubs that were before us, not just one.

I hope this logo is symbolic of us turning the corner as a club and heading towards a stronger future, because of, not despite, our heritage as "The Team For All South Australians" or "Made From South Australia".

I never want to hear anyone with an official capacity at the Crows ever say it's tough to attract people to Adelaide again. They're not the people we want anyway.

The SA map reference… better off not even mentioning it because it’s so obscure.
Thank you good post

On this I agree because now people are scratching their heads and turning it sideways

This should have ''leaked'' out slowly or let someone spot it

I did have a tickle when I first saw it that it looked 'state-ish'

I am sure at one point I gave similar feedback to the club

We should be representative of South Australia and play into that whole heartedly.

The style of the crow wings has a tinge of militarism to it. Not a huge issue but it’s the sort of thing that could be exploited by detractors.

I don't personally see a huge connection, but I did see feedback from some saying it gave off Nazi Germany vibes

This aspect of the rebrand is really good.

It annoys me on the broadcast when we are listed as "Adelaide Crows" when other teams just get "Collingwood" or "Richmond"

We are Adelaide. The South Australian team. Period.

My guess is we won't see it a lot, it will be more the emphasis on 'Adelaide' rather than 'Adelaide Crows'. Which I like.

I'm guessing moving forward things like this will just say, 'Adelaide'.

Being known as 'Adelaide' and not 'Adelaide Crows' is another thing I was big on

Signs we are growing up and moving away from the focus of getting the kids on board

I think the opposite to this.

If you need to shout it out, then it’s probably a forced narrative.

You really think anyone doesn’t know we are an SA club? Jeez, we are called “Adelaide”!!

And the choice of words, “Made from South Australia” is very weird. Even symbolically that’s a strange choice.

In reality, we are made only partly from South Australia - when they are ready to come home for a pay cheque!!

Anyway, of course none of this matters … let’s get back to talking about the really important things that actually directly influence the club, you know, like the American Election result

Correct. We are not West Melbourne.

Club is so proud of it's new logo - and yet the website still has the seal top-left.

So many weird things about this logo:
  • the different / inconsistent thickness lines around the edge, like they are trying to give it depth of some kind (most noticeable at the top-left end of the red wing feather)
  • just about every corner is handled differently
  • why is there no top line on the bottom tail feather? Again, trying to convey a 3-d'ness?
  • the overlapping colours at the head-end of red and yellow wing feathers
  • where the wing connects to the neck looks strange
  • the interaction of the two feet is sloppy
  • the ADELAIDE font being in italics and having 3-D aspects to it
  • Text placement is also a bit crappy - is it just centered on the whole crow from tip-to-tip?
Absolute amateur hour imo - but its the same process that delivered the old logo - what do we expect!!
All of this + something I absolutely hate which is an “open” path, with the three gaps in the outline stroke… at the top wing, middle tail and spanners. This always feels “leaky”, which along with the inconsistent handling provides zero cohesion and solidity. Feels weak and janky.

I will say the filled version, particularly the vintage treatment on the club rooms… is ok.

The text placement is fine, it’s either mathematically centred or optically centres but I don’t think anywhere else would be an improvement.
