As an expansion team with almost no history or tradition they have the widest possible brief and most freedom to do interesting stuff with their guernsey. Take a look at all the stuff the NBA teams do - GCS have that level of freedom. The above is ... shockingly bland, imho.

For clarity's sake, that's a mock-up on Canva on an edited Essendon away guernsey. GC supporters have seen a dark red background with the new logo in bright red. Everyone's just assuming about the rest at this point.

Thought I'd pop in to say that there's some more stuff I've seen that will hit the public view soon and in my professional opinion, your club has done this right and ended up with a good result.
Nitpicking over the details of the logo loses sight of the bigger frame. The supporting elements around the new rebrand are very good. Yes, the logo could be better, but I suspect there was a 'design by committee' process that may have disrupted that outcome. The rest is fantastic.
Made From South Australia - my personal opinion is that it's limiting but the team behind this would have had access to some fairly deep research so I'm willing to get behind it (from a branding sense only, of course).
When Port went through it's rebrand, the controlling idiots who run our club thought that the process starts and finishes with the logo. Didn't engage a reputable brand agency and thought that unpaid interns should be designing our brand marketing. Our coal face marketing is utterly appalling. I can see AFC really jumping ahead of us in the polish of your brand comms next season.
You should all be pretty happy with this result and once you get your new club rooms opened, and eventual member control of your club, you will be laughing.
FWIW, check out the Adelaide United social media graphic style and guernsey designs. Super slick and way ahead of the pack when it comes to branding a sporting club. They also have one of the worst logos going around, so it goes to show that branding is a lot more than just a logo.
