Not suggesting it is, I'm just lamenting something that will be lost and can never be retrieved.

Don't have a problem with the use of facilities etc.
I disagree with you.

If anything this will only enhance the uni and what it stands for.

The only players to be paid are that play for the crows

A good idea to attach to an amateur club. But not Uni, they embody all that's left of amateurism and exist to provide alumni with a sporting club, this marriage goes against what they stand for. Most other clubs would jump at the chance, lets leave an institution intact, pick one with a good location and less heritage to lose.

Knowing about this for awhile and the discussions behind it, I can assure people that heritage and continuity is at the forefront of the Blacks committee minds. There's plenty of discussion left before where players may be playing is broached; the committee is keen on the SAAFL Div 1 A grade of the club remaining wholly amateur (people like Will Paynter & George Hurley-Wellington certainly receive nothing from the Crows or the Blacks when they play for the Blacks).
We'll never sign up to anything that robs identity from the AUFC but as a committe, we'd be remiss to not investigate the possiblities in this.
I see that the Crows would like a training and supporter facility near Adelaide Oval in the future, currently over summer Uni loops and Park 10 are often utilised.

you need to wise up.

Wise up to the fact that Port run their board like a bunch of insecure little brothers ? So we want to replicate that? It's not as if Chigi was trolling FFS

for what it's worth - the search function found 72 posts of mine on the Port board - Haven't been carded by them once - Maybe the people complaing about their hardline attitude should look at what they've posted...

Nobody is forcing UofA to do anything they don't want to. Maybe they want to be aligned with a premier national sporting organisation.

Stop being such a drama queen.

Your first sentence is entirely correct, and your 2nd sentence could very well be correct too - That doesn't mean that someone shouldn't be able to bring up legitimate points in a constructive way to discuss the various outcomes of what could happen should the agreement go through - If he didn't have a Port Adelaide label on the side bar, there is no way that other posters would have reacted in the same way. It's all petty bullshit and totally unbecoming of those who indulge in it.

The partisan nature of the board when dealing with non-trolling Port posters is quite frankly juvenile

In those 72, how many of then had a hint of criticism?

Or were they praising them and saying how awesome they are?

It's not going to happen. Rowey spoke with SANFL clubs today and the plan is to make the crows and port weaker not give us a development team. Crows have said they are happy with current set up

How does that make us stronger?

It either makes us weaker or the status quo stays the same.

He also said they would limit recruits to under 23 and have to be South Aussies

They really are looking at as many ways they can drive us out of the state in terms of SANFL.

With those stipulations - why would we want a reserves team.

What I heard Steven Rowe say was that we wouldn't take over Adelaide Uni as our team but more of just a partnership that allowed us to get most/all of our top ups from them. I don't know what the difference is but there was one. Anyway I think there is still room for our system to become stronger, and Ports weaker so that we meet somewhere in the middle.

100% agree with this. If a Port supporter trolls then report them, if they don't then engage them with friendly banter

While this is heartwarming stuff and I'm doing all I can to fight back the urge to launch a telethon for disenfranchised port power posters on our board, in my opinion he was just finding a pretext to whinge because it seems a great move that will give us a city presence. I have no time for people who call us a scummy franchise elsewhere coming on our board in the guise of a champion of amateurism in footy when we're onto a great move for footy in the city. If anyone from any other club had the same concern I would give it the respect it deserves, but, strangely, no one else has come forward with a sudden heart felt need to crusade for the sanctity of amateurism.

FWIW, we are not a soulless corporation that is going to ruthlessly dismantle the last vestiges of noble amateurism and destroy the traditions of the AUFC. Knowing the AFC we will go above and beyond in protecting the AUFC's history and identity. On paper this has obvious benefits for both parties and there is no reason why such a partnership need harm the AUFC. They are clever folks who would never let that happen and we are clever folks who would never want that to happen. So many of our people are UofA people, its ludicrous to even suggest such a possibility.

I'm not against it but I do worry about the Uni supporters, they have a reputation for selling their cars to put money on the bar
That's their players

To be honest i couldn't care less about the football side of it. I was more excited about having a place we can all go to for a drink or 2 after the game. Although, not quite sure exactly where their club rooms are - hopefully they are a waypoint on the Crazy Horse route.
