A very, very poor night. I know it's good to be consistently up there but a 3rd prelim lost in 5 years is at least one wasted flag any way you slice it.
On the positive, thought Bews was great, Cocky will grow from experience on the big stage and Duncan very good again.

Biggest problem is with the game plan tbh, not the players. The instruction to not man up until they get within a kick of pumping it into the 50 is bizarre. I think we have a good playing group...we have shown that, but this is a tactical failure. The difference when we don't have the ball between this week and last is insane.

Finished 3rd which is pretty much what we were all year, 3rd or 4th best team. A lot of thinking to be done on how to improve this team in high pressure games - as others have mentioned we need more players who can kick the ball well.
As for the comments about Geelong being "hopeless", "shit", "sack half the team", etc. - we finished 3rd FFS. Beaten by a far better team who were red hot in their home deck.

Good:
- Steven Motlop. Back to back finals he's turned up, something too many haven't done this year. We should be keeping him.
- Joel Selwood. Mouthbreathers point to his finals record as captain but this bloke carried this team for years, and you see it in games like tonight he never gives in. Deserves better than what he's getting.
- Getting glimpses of what Parfitt is going to be, if we don't **** up his development he's going to be a gem in years to come.
Bad:
- Turnovers. Pretty much why we've lost.
- Blicavs, Menegola, Kolo, Lang. Stood up last week. Invisible tonight. Too inconsistent.
- Menzel's selfishness, important time and he ****ed us. Less strong on the need to keep him. ****ed knees and selfish and poor pressure wise
- Our forward structure. Need a CHF and small forwards desperately. Kills us too often against good sides.
Ugly:
- Rhys Stanley. Just get out of the club. delist him. trade him. Don't care, jut get him out.
- No need for no damn edit. Let's just say, supporters who actively were giddy we were losing can GAGF.
- Starting with a zone. Man on Man FFS.
Unforgivable:
How we sent these two champs off. Thanks for the years of great service Mack and Doms, deserved a better end.

People who say Scott has nothing to do with this must not have watched us since the first final v Fremantle in 2012. Part of his job is presenting a team that doesn't shit it self when the other team applies pressure in the first quarter. We have a slew of new players and we still lose the exact same way. We can't keep having these caveats in place that preclude us from having a good performance. We can't play after a bye, we can't play after a week of getting good press etc etc It's most definitely on him and the coaching staff if he can't present a team in a consistently strong headspace.

Only consolation is I don't have to sit in a bus for 8 hours with 40 other mourners
hammered again… well done to adelaide! phenomenal performance.
anyone who maintains motlop is ‘lazy’ is very unfair. guy doesnt always play brilliantly, but he runs himself into the ground every week. hope we keep him.
the vagaries of sport, though… one week everyone in the side has a shocker, then a uniform ‘blinder’, the next right back towards the other.
this team is seemingly good enough to win by 10 goals against anyone, yet bad enough lose by 10 goals to anyone. bizarre. and we have seen the best (worst?) of both worlds in three consecutive weeks.
for what its worth, thanks for everything to both mackie and lonergan, and anyone else who we haven’t yet heard have played their last game for geelong.
and despite all the negatives, looking forward to watching geelong next year already…

Is there any chance of getting Linc and Cory back with any sort of consistency? Or should we be looking at other options?

You cannot possibly blame Scott. At least 10 players that can play 1 good game out of 4. In fact anyone blaming Scott tonight are simply resorting to the easiest and most common person to blame through complete shutdown of reasonable thought in their mind. To those people all I have to say is. Composure, you need it and 70% of our players do.
