It is irrelevant what you paid for them - these are currently the guys you’re trotting out as your key position forwards. Granted Daniher is currently injured, it’s hardly a surprise you’re underperforming with so many consistently poor journeymen running around. These guys would arguably make few teams in the league, aren’t getting better and yet are expected to perform in a final.

I’d happily take our young players, and by a long way. Nice to see McGrath having a good game last night though - showed up a number of your senior players for intensity.
How is what you paid irrelevant? We drafted Fantasia and walla at pick 56 and through the rookie draft respectfully. Fantasia has under performed, but Walla has kicked more goals than any one of your players this year. Mckay has kicked 5 more goals than Brown, even though he Brown has played 4 less games.

Brown was seen as a temporary player for us. We paid pretty much nothing for him, but he somehow outperforms all of your forwards taken in the early first round.
I'm quite happy to see our players taken later in the draft outperform your first round picks.

Daniher also was a much better player in his 4th year than Mckay is now. Daniher was in the worst team in modern history and still managed to kick 43 goals. Mckay can't even crack 30 in a team 5 years into its rebuild.

And all this has resulted in ZERO finals wins since 2004.

Simply brilliant from Dodoro.

McKay is still improving as a player, having played less than 50 games - Brown is a legitimate journeyman who’s peaked and somehow still making a finals-capable team. McKay also shares a forward line with two other tall targets each week. His ‘only’ kicking 5 more goals for the year isn’t a glowing endorsement for Brown.

Tends to happen when you’re the number one target, rather than having another few talented key position forwards around him. I’m surprised he didn’t kick more.

Also reinforces how cooked Essendon are if he jetsets for Sydney.

Yes it takes time to build a list but 4 years in and you're still 3rd to bottom on the ladder. There's a difference between having concessions to do a rebuild and getting a complete free pass.

If you want to be critical of Dorodo then SOS can hardly escape criticism either.

Not surprised a Carlton fan can't accept criticism of Silvagni. Talk about blind obsession.

You should be very worried about what's going on at your club, glad Adelaide made the top 4, good luck with that. :drunk:

I love how the wide football community hates Dodoro because how hard he negotiates with other teams.

I'd rather a list manager that gets the best deals, rather than one who bends over when pressured e.g SOS.

A few things
1) SOS bends over when pressured? Um, did you see the deal he got for a cooked Gibbs after sticking to his guns? Doesn't mean he's a gun list manager either....Which is the point everyone is making.

2) no one 'hates' Dodoro. The wider footballing community just thinks he's overrated for the positions and promotions he's held based on getting some good trade deals

I don’t really get his celebrity and why he exists so prominently in the heads of opposition supporters. I think it’s just because they know his name. For example, St Kilda’s list is a bloody train wreck and nobody is starting angry threads about their list manager. Nobody even knows who it is. Same with plenty of clubs.

You make out as if it's only opposition supporters who go on about him. It's more in response to Essendon fans performing internet fellatio on him everytime they land a player, and telling us how great he is, and then results don't come, and being the main board of a footy forum, it gets discussed. Any footballing 'celebrity' who doesn't perform gets ridiculed eventually.

Name me the last time SOS fleeced in a trade?

What?

Smith is a mid who won our B&F in his first year and is a tackling machine.

Saad is a defender. He was a replacement for Hibberd and has turned out to be a major upgrade. For a second round pick.

Stringer is a marking forward who’s already one of our best players and we got for a song. Our forward line would be rooted without him.

None of them are flankers.

Constable and Worpel? Who were passed over by every club multiple times? Are we really gonna play that “cherry pick the late draft gem and say we should’ve drafted him” game? What is this, primary school?

Not so much questioning the players you traded from other kids, it's the kids you have drafted over the past 10 years so from the first couple of rounds that haven't kicked on (like Parish)

Maybe it's fair to say He is mostly good at doing trades/swapping picks for players, but his young draft/player talent identication leaves a lot to be desired or that EFC have been poor at developing kids for too long..

Essendon need to try buy their way back into the first round/top ten this year, a sure fire prospect like Sam Flanders would be a great fit for EFC.

Being a good list manager doesn't mean "winning trades". It isn't a zero sum game.

That's such 90s thinking, and such Essington thinking.

Zzz

Doesn’t help when most of the posts predated the ‘like’ function.

s**t, I joined bigfooty in the same year Essendon won its last final...

And even still Essendon won their last final 2 weeks before I joined Bigfooty

Hey Chief ... maybe a special medal could be struck for posters who are still active that were here when Essendon last won a final.

Adrian is only new in the job of List Manager + Executive Board Member at Essington.

He is currently undertaking some learnings.

Cos he is in tight with influential coterie types like Mark Casey who want to get close enough to the action to be able to really sniff the liniment

His brother, former Richmond president, Clinton (nut) Casey, set us back years.

Seriouslyness though, say the league spilled all the list managers and there was a draft for them.

Who would go pick 1?

And where would Dodo go?

If i was Gold Coast with Pick 1 i would draft Adrian.

Imagine the bounty the white shoe brigade at Essendon would pony up for him in a trade to get him back.

Seriously how does this bloke have the reputation he does?

How does he seemingly have free reign to as he pleases at Essendon and end up with promotions.

What has he actually achieved?

All this talk about Worsfold and maybe he’s part of the problem but this bloke has been in charge of their list 7 years.

Won zero finals, his drafting leaves a fair bit to be desired in my opinion and year after year they have the same giant flaws.

This man has a lot of people conned including the media. Don’t think I’ve seen them ever criticise his record.

Always banging on about him winning trade periods. How can you win them when they don’t lead to any sort of genuine success?
He must have inappropriate photos of all of those who have been his superior in the 20 years he’s been in the list management group.

I’m not sure whether there is a single Essendon poster that would say Dodoro has done a good job.

They've spent a decade bagging s**t out of Cunnington and Ziebell as "plodders" yet either of those blokes would immediately make them a substantially better team. Cunners in particular. They even get it as when we play them they put lots of work into Cunners which inevitably serves them very very well.
So he goes missing when he plays Essendon? Odd way to give the guy a plug.
