Melbourne fans have done a complete turnaround on the significance of the umpiring since Queens birthday. I thought the better team wins? It doesn't matter? You can point to bad decisions both sides? Salty and sore losers and what not. Winners (well, 3/4 time leaders, Melbourne may still win) are grinners. And so on.

(Disclaimer: I'm of the opinion the better team wins 99.99% of the time regardless of umpiring).
The better team does win.

I like Viney but his intention was to take Hurn out and clear the way for his teammate. It was reckless play. I defended him in that overturned suspension v Adelaide but if he gets taken down for this, he deserves it.

He jumped in the air past the ball and hit Hurn in the head. Pretty cut and dry by modern MRP interpretations.

Fascinates me how the eagles are so much better than the dockers, but if you told me to pick a team to either hang on or steal a game in the dying seconds I'd take freo every time, the eagles are very much in the Richmond/North basket, bombers need to build on last night to enter the heartbreak group.

Can't help but feel that McGovern would be the biggest name in footy if he played at another club. Barrass and obviously Petrie also impressive.

Umpiring was pretty dog shit I thought and I'm not the type to say that every week and I feel it holds a bit more weight since we won. The bad calls did fall both ways, possibly favouring wce slightly bit that happens at those places.

Setting up for an epic showdown when both sides get some big boys back.

Great game.
