What did you expect when it was one of the worst games played at the stadium all year (and that's saying something), the team 99% of the neutrals were going for failed to kick a goal for the first quarter and were trailing by a 4 goal margin for most of the game.

There wasn't that many in Geelong colours at the ground and way less GWS. Again, not sure what you were expecting.

Melbourne have played two prelims in perth, lost them by 65 points ('94) and 66 points ('18) respectively. Both times, the winner of the prelim went on to win the flag.

By that logic, and that alone, I'm tipping the cats by 67 points and to win the flag.

Stewart was as close to a walk up start for the AA team as you can get. Is he not currently among the best defenders in the competition?

Yeah definitely. He plays a similar role to Lever and Lever outperformed him this year. That's not to discredit Stewart, he has been fantastic.

You mean Geelong are missing THEIR best backman, right? Because if you meant the best backman in the competition that would be embarrassing. He wouldn't even be in the top 2 defenders on the ground on Friday if he were playing.

Tom Stewart is by far the best defender in the competition.

Stewart is the gold standard when it comes to intercepting defence and rebound. Absolutely. May is a true FB. If you want to find a defender who has been the best for the last 3-4 years then it’s Stewart. Rance was the best for about 5 years, then McGovern had a window, now Stewart. Stewart since 2019 has been the best defender.

Stewart is better. It’s just a fact. Lever is obviously seriously good, and clearly top 6 in the AFL judged by his AA selection, but Stewart is just a bit of an upgrade. In saying that, there’d be 17 clubs that would drop everything and jostle for poll position if Lever became available.

I'd definitely say he's a better defender. I'd argue Stewart is the better all-round player though with the way he attacks off halfback.
