funny cant see who will go at the end of the season 2014

yet end of 2015 I can see about 4 at least who will call an end of a wonderful career

Has Scott actually said anything regarding Cowan? I know one of the fitness guys mentioned he wants to get himself ready for 2015, but I can't recall Scott or Balme saying anything specific.

I'm pretty sure he did when the news broke that Cowan would be out for the year, could be wrong though.

I'd say the following players are all 'possibles' to be either traded out of delisted:

Stringer, Cowan, Schroder, Sheringham (rookie - near certainty), Brown, Smedts, Taylor Hunt.

That's 6 senior listed players, not including ones with big injury queries now - Simpson, McIntosh, Menzel, Vardy, Christensen. Then you have the veterans, but they aren't going to suddenly chop them, if they realise VFL time is a likelihood next season at times I'd say that's a reasonably outcome.

That's the problem with '5 year plans' and succession planning. Current form is almost completely ignored.
Some youngsters have been 'earmarked' for a future role while others have to fight for their place. The club has an overly optimistic view on injured players. Ruthless in cutting the best performing veteran (Chapman) while gifting Kelly a 1 year deal when he is in obvious decline.

why would he say mission accomplished then, surely he must have known the teams shortcomings, saying mission accomplished is living in denial
As I understand it, Mission accomplished was getting out of a dead rubber game, what they wanted...ie, looking at our game plan, looking at theirs etc

i wonder what chris scott got out of there looking at our game plan and looking at there's. whatever it is it didnt work hey

I don't like that mass exodus of senior players at the end of next year. I liked the idea of staggering the retirements, but I guess the contracts the older guys are on makes that hard to do.

I also think a lot of those guys to delist this year won't go. Scott's already said Cowan will be back next year I think and I don't think he's going to delist his boy Billie Smedts unless he asks for a trade. Not so sure they'll let Hunt go either. It's going to be interesting to see who they cut.
They've said no older guys are going this year.
They are making calls on younger guys right now.

Next year the older guys will go.

We've staggered enough.

My grand final prediction of Geelong vs Freo has become the worst prediction in ten years. At least, we have a worst.

Next year, I can see our forward line could be better if they stick to Tommy and Walker. But I can't see any improvement in the ruck position. I'm hoping we can get better chemistry reaction around our middle field. We desperately need more Christensens and Menzels.

At least, we know where we need to improve, ye, you're right, we have known these and been saying these for two years.

Partridge, are you working for the Herald sun?

If you rounded this out with we need a ruck, it would be verbatim.

It certainly will be an interesting period for the club with a number of veterans lining up for their last hurrah next year, along with a few on the IL that will need decisions made upon their careers.

I'm thinking next year's trade period is going to be very lucrative for anyone that wants to play for Geelong. Dangerfield type money there.
