Appears I’m not the only one firming for Wardlaw…

Can Wardlaw, Hobbs and Caldwell all play in the same midfield? Genuine question.
FWIW I don’t really care either way who falls to our pick but was thinking a more dynamic mix for our next wave of kids coming through would be.
  • Hobbs
  • Caldwell
  • Tsatas
  • Perkins (rotating FWD)
  • Durham & Martin roaming the wings.
Will be interesting to see how they use Voss this year if they see him as a Stringer replacement FWD with the occasional centre bounce rotation.
Tsatas doesn’t have to do the in and under stuff leave that to Hobbs and Caldwell, but provides some height, burst speed for centre bounce clearance and good disposal going forward.

I'd say they can, yes.

It would be like rolling with a midfield of Viney, Selwood & Shuey.

Pick 22 (A.Davey)
J.Davey

Only way we can get Munkara currently is if he gets through and we place on the Cat B with Mcbride

Obviousily it seems likely Waterman would be delisted you would think which opens up a 4th spot for Munkara if we need to match a bid. Just means no point doing anything with 22 into anything later or earlier in this draft as it will be for Davey currently

22 should currently be used for a F2 and extra late points this year

Eyre brand menzie and waterman are all up in the air.
We’ll want 4-5 spots open for draft night. Pretty sure waterman and menzie aren’t senior list spots anyway

So list spot cap is 42 total (between 36 + 6 rookies and 38 +4 rookies).
For clarity- I am assuming Waterman and Ham are delisted and Francis traded, whilst Weideman and Setterfield come in.
I am also assuming both Martin and Durham have been upgraded, Durham definitely has to be.

R2. P.Voss
R3. T. Wanganeen
R4. J.Menzie
R5. M.D'Ambrosio

Cat B1: McBride
Cat B2: ???

So I based on that, I imagine:
  • My guess is we are trading pick 22. It will likely be a F2 and some picks this year after the trade period and before the draft if it happens. We need as many list spots for points as possible.
  • One of Eyre/Brand/Menzies may have to have the ol' delist and redraft treatment which would give us an additional spot for the draft night to keep points, then re-draft them at the end or in the rookie draft.

Durham can have one more year on the RL. 2021, 22 and 23

Dogs in: Pick 21, Pick 22, F1 (Lions)
Dogs Out: Dunkley, F2, Pick 69

Bris In: Dunkley
Bris Out: F1, Pick 21, F2

Ess In: F2 (Dogs), F2 (Lions), Pick 69
Ess Out: Pick 22

Probably cant be done. Brisbane probably dont want to give all that up, we probably are in a dangerous spot with lacking points

Maybe best keeping 22. Delist A.Waterman, hope Davey gets past 22....then hope Munkara gets past the ND

i'd say yes
By the time Hobbs and Wardlaw are prime mids, you'd think Shiel has retired.

Parish would be 28
Merrett going on 30 but hopefully still with life in the legs.
Shiel probably retired.

So its;
Draper Hobbs Wardlaw
W1 Merrett W2
Parish as rotation/off HFF
Perkins rotation with Wardlaw
Caldwell rotation with Hobbs

means this draft should build the midfield core moving forward.

Parish to be gone as a FA next year fingers crossed.

I hope he becomes more team orientated under Scott, who I imagine will be stronger with the players and pull a few in line. Parish has the potential to be a great player if he improves his defense, and the same could be said for a few others.

However if he doesn't improve his teamwork and defense then I agree with you.

Are you sure Nic Martin is on the senior list

Hes contracted to 2024 though, so they would have to upgrade him this year or next. Considering we arent going to hit the floor, it would make no sense to have his salary on the rookie list.
Yeah, I think he gets upgraded anyway
