If we rate him the 7th best player, I’d happily slide back. Ant didn’t seem too hot on him either.

I’m hoping like * Wardlaw is at our pick anyway.
And that's part of the problem - if we rate him as 7 we are literally the only ones rating him as 7 so maybe we should just see who everyone else rates and base our pick on that instead of stuffing it up.

if we're talking Clark, I doubt we are. Seems pretty certain Geelong are keen.
Maybe they like the Falcons link, but to be honest he's been impressive...particularly of late.

May lack height, but doesn't lack size in his fight.

gonna throw it out there...reading the tea leaves a little. Im speculating that if Sheezel and Wardlaw go directly after Ashcroft and Cadman, we will offer pick 4 and 54 (will be 5 and 56 after Ashcroft and Fletcher bids) for Saints 9 and 28 (likely then 10 and 29). Saints are desperate to get into the top 5. This means we are in the frame for McKenzie/Phillipou (big body/hard edge/polished skills) while remaining in the second round even if Davey is bid on in the teens...is Tstatas a need? McKenzie/Phillipou, Davey Jr then a throw at the stumps (Weddle/Barnett/Jones??) at 29. If Davey is bid on after 16 but before 22 for instance....we can walk out of the draft with a top ten pick, Davey and a pick inside 30. Shallow draft....speculative after 35-40.
If Dodoro did that it would be the worse move he’s made in 30+ years he’s been at the club. If it’s not already his last year at the club, it would be after that.
Trade out of the top bracket of players for a pick that would be used on points for a F/S bid. All the picks we have after 22 are for Alwyn Davey jnr bid and one for Munkara if he makes it through.

Only trade I see happening is 4,22 for Saints 9, F1. GC won’t trade up need points next year, Hawks are tanking, Geel can’t trade F1 and WC traded down already to grab WA players.

How do you know how anyone else rates the players? Do you have access to all 18 clubs draft boards, let alone EFC?

I'm surprised so many are hesitant on Tsatas, He suits out young midfield.

Hobbs, Tsatas, Perkins and Caldwell is a good group who will play plenty of footy together and all compliment each other.

I too am surprised at the hesitancy on Tsatsas. I back our talent ID so I’ll cop it if we trade out or go for someone else but as far as I’m concerned he’s a point of difference player with a very desirable skill set.

I see taller Dylan Shiel with better foot skills, not a brute but competent on the inside and can get on the move with the footy.

Not to say that players like Wardlaw and Sheezel aren’t point of difference players, I just think he is as well, to the point where I’d want a seriously compelling offer to trade back more than a couple of picks.

Will Ashcroft is widely seen as the best player in the draft but given he’s a father-son selection tied to Brisbane, his name wasn’t raised.

GWS (Pick 1)

Twomey told AFL Trade Radio: “We think Aaron Cadman is the likely number one pick now. They (GWS) have gone up (in the draft) for a reason, a key forward who doesn’t have the go-home tendencies that potentially some of the other prospects do have.”

Cadman is a 196cm key forward out of Greater Western Victoria Rebels, booting 34 goals in 12 NAB League games this season while averaging 17 disposals.

North Melbourne (Picks 2 and 3)

Twomey says: “North Melbourne with the two next picks. We heard (North Melbourne list manager) Brady Rawlings saying there have been offers for pick three, they’ll keep that door open but the likelihood is they keep those two picks going to the draft.

“I think Harry Sheezel is a very strong chance to be one of them and George Wardlaw as well would be a significant option as well. He’s a bit of a Jason Horne-Francis of this year’s crop once he gets going. “

Sheezel is a forward who can push into the midfield from the Sandringham Dragons and kicked 36.24 in the NAB League season.

Meanwhile, Wardlaw endured an injury-interrupted season for the Oakleigh Chargers but is an out-and-out midfielder who can also hit the scoreboard.

Essendon (Pick 4)

Twomey says: “The Bombers I’m fascinated in… I think Elijah Tsatas would be a good option for them, Bailey Humphrey is another one as well who would be in that top rung.”

Tsatas is a midfielder who has skills on both the inside and outside of the contest and possesses a game-breaking ability.

Meanwhile, Humphrey is a medium forward/midfielder who Twomey has previously likened to Sydney’s Isaac Heeney.

Jhye Clark (who has been heavily linked to Geelong), Reuben Ginbey, Cam Mackenzie and Matt Jefferson are the others seen as most likely to go in the top 10.

then i guess you let Brand go
With Zerk, Reid and Cox, plus Stewart and Laverde, then Eyre as well. how many taller defenders do you need competing for 2 spots in the side.
Do many rate brand? Interesting as I was already howled down for staying 2 years for Stewart.

When it now seems we are already letting go younger AFL standard talls. Or is brand more unlikely than likely to make it.

The two years doesn't impact brand this year but does if we add another tall with pick 4 or 22

I think its more about push coming to shove.

Have posted elsewhere, but our current KPP stocks are a mix of sprayed bullets in a short period hoping to land a few (Jones, Baldwin, Voss, Reid, Cox, Zerk, McBride, Brand, Eyre, Draper, Bryan + recently delistings of Lavender and Crauford) + dumped stop gaps (Stewart, Phillips, Wright, Weideman)

For a "build the spine" disciple of Sheeds, Dodoro has done a terrible job managing it.
Daniher leaving really exposed the long neglect we had there.

As a result we're overstocked with guys who you wouldn't bank on being part of a finals win (Stewart, Phillips) or young prospects still needing another 50+ games before you back them in

Wright was a lucky fluke he found the form he always promised.

Baldwin, Voss, Eyre, Brand, McBride -> these are list spots you'd ideally not have full so you could focus on filling gaps to take us forward vs. a deep pool of speculative talent.

Richmond Football Club has informed players Jake Aarts, Sydney Stack, Riley Collier-Dawkins, and Will Martyn that they will not be offered contracts for the 2023 season.

I'm guessing these two would be the main player's to perhaps look at ?

Something something size of the dog in the fight something something........

I saw a bit of VFL and thought Brand was developing ok. Thought he might have even got a debut near season end especially given our lack of height down back. Would keep Brand ahead of Eyre in any event.

Can only speak for myself but I think it's more that an additional F2 is a tempting offer if it means we end up with a Humphrey or Clark instead os Tsatas.

Completely understand others having the opposite opinion however.

Like I said above it would have to be a pretty compelling offer, probably involving a future first.

There were mumblings of Carlton wanting to trade up to gain access to Sheezel and maybe putting a future first on the table. In that case the offer might be something like 4 and 22 for 11 and a future first and I’m not even 100% sure I’d do that.

Yeah I would probably look at more as say 4 for 6 and F2 for instance and would be more based on us rating Tsatas, Clark and Humphrey relatively equally so gaining a F2 for free more or less.

One of the calls on him in that Vic M v Vic C game was he's size of the fight in the dog vs. size of the dog in the fight.
i love and hate that saying. It's perfect for what it is. but also **** dog fighting and all those associated with it.

i think the hawks would want 22 as well. And i'd be ok with that as we'd start to lose list spots tbh (or we just reach on Munkara i guess)

I'm not doing it for that, personally.

Last year WC and port 12 for 14 and F2. Admittedly, Port's F2 wasn't expected to be as low as Hawks F2 is but think that's offset by the lower pick being traded.

Would take Stack. Him and Stocker as DFA’s with Voss pushing up from the reserves would give the side a healthy dose of physicality.
