Watson the shortest player in the AFL was great tonight.

And Hawthorn play well at Adelaide Oval. They have destroyed us there countless times and had a couple of solid wins over Port and should have won that game earlier this season. Could be 0-5 to a preliminary final.

I think they will certainly fancy their chances next Friday night vs Port.

I said this about Hawthorn many times. No matter what adversity they face they always shine.

There are winner clubs such as the Hawks, Swans and Cats. Regardless of advantages, these clubs know what it takes to either rebuild swiftly or manage their lists well enough and recruit strategically to bounce back.

We are amongst the loser clubs with North, St Kilda, Freo, Carlton and Essendon because of ongoing incompetency that festers in an ooze of mediocrity or shitness.
They are run as football clubs, with the main priority being to win games of football, and in turn, premierships.

I sometimes wonder that because Crows always have a good membership that they don't need to try as hard, but then WCE debunks that theory.

We're just a shit organisation.

I hear you… but I am still wary. The Hawks momentum is great, but it can turn quickly, a young team, travelling interstate etc. Poort come out breathing fire for Dad and it could rattle them (Hawks). Cannot relax til Port are done. Hopefully these umpires will help Hawrhorn next week lol.
Mitchell won't park the bus at AO 42 points up next week....

Not even the shortest on the field tonight ;)

Man, watching the exuberance and arrogance (in a good way) of Watson and Ginnivan and how the Hawks embrace it yet we Rachele got hung out to dry by us.

Really paints a picture of where the two clubs sit at and what they value.

Surely our board room morons would watch this game and think
"hmmm, those young hawks are doing well after starting their rebuild after ours. They look like they enjoy themselves, celebrate goals, embrace the occasion. What is the difference??"
100% .. difference being, they don't have a group of old farts putting the handbrake on.. let the kids loose to make their own story.. tails wagged this dog for years...

Since 2018, Hawthorn have:
  • bottomed out
  • drafted Ward, Day, Watson and McDonald at the national draft
  • picked up Newcombe in the mid season draft (insane)
  • traded in Impey, Amon and Scrimshaw (weapons by foot) as well as Ginnivan and Meek
  • risen to be a genuine premiership threat
  • about to bring in Barrass

Meanwhile we have:
  • not made finals at all
  • just finished 15th
  • Crouch and Laird still running our midfield
  • only just retired Sloane because a doctor basically forced him
  • just re-signed Walker and Smith
  • extended the coach for two years
  • publically chastised a young talented player

It's actually pure comedy.

Every time a Hawk player is interviewed you hear words like fun, enjoy and joy.

These dudes love their football and playing with each other.

I also sense there is no picking order...all are equals...meanwhile if the AFC could have Lords and Serfs we would.
Interesting to hear them talk about how Mitchell changed his perspective to fit with the players rather than trying to force the players change to fit him. He's tough, uncompromising, but gives them the freedom to be themselves and enjoy playing football

"Has he changed? Yeah, there's still an element of that side of him where he can be brutally honest when he needs to be.

"His biggest growth has been letting these guys express themselves and be themselves in their own way, and embracing that and not squashing it."

Being an Adelaide fan doesn't have a lot of positives.

How are we looking for website hits though?

Hahah you seen our board? No footy knowledge at all, just a bunch of corporates who want another thing to put on their CV

Members voting rights now!

Is Jones going to get Watson? Watson will rip him a new one.
Season 17 Wow GIF by America's Got Talent

Given how tight the ladder was this year, you would expect tight Finals.

So far, not the case.

With how inequitable the fixture is and the amount of bad teams, the old adage of the Ladder being a true reflection of ranking the teams in terms of quality is null and void.

Will only get worse with Tasmania and a 20th side joining the league as the talent base being further diluted.
