We are in a great position playing on the Sunday. We can see how all the other games go before we decide how we treat the North game. If I had a say in things at the pies I would be trying to get our first final on the Saturday so we could get a seven day break before the semi. We a either going to finish 5th or 6th with 5th being better if all games work out the way they should. So if we have 5th in the bag I would lighten the load of some key players and maybe rest one or two. Not sure who comes in but I think we need to give Didak a full game just to see how he is traveling. I would hate to drop him or play him as sub again with knowing if he can play a big part in the finals. With his smarts and skill he could be the difference between winning and losing.

I don't see the need to bring Jolly in tbh. Grundy and Lynch both offer more than he does ATM.
No problem
Why do you reckon Geelong "drop" players occasionally?
Players like Bartel and Taylor, its not because of poor form, so there must be some other reason.
Rest? Give others a run? Gotta be something!

With 1 game remaining, we cannot drop out of the 8.
We can't drop below 6
We get a home final no matter what
Might it be worth resting a player or two like... Lynch for instance, and giving player like, oh I dunno, say Jolly a run so that he gets a bit of senior match fitness after coming back from injury.

I know, I know...call me crazy

I'd rest Bally this week. It's going to be a long finals campaign (hopefully) so we need him as fresh as possible. Beams to come back in after a strategic rest whilst Swanny played major parts of last night's game up forward. All of a sudden we've rested/freshened a large part of a our midfield, which is important going forward. Sidebottom/Pendlebury are other candidates for a rest, but with the 9 day break one would think they wouldn't be too keen.

In: Beams, Elliot
Out: Kennedy, Ball

IN Beams, Elliott
OUT Ball, Kennedy

If Beams & Elliott not quite ready then No Change or Martin or Krak for Ball.
If Ball injury slight, I would still give him a break prior finals.
Grundy & Lynch to continue... best option for balance at the moment.

Gee people are quick to swing the Kennedy axe. I thought he was really good last night v WCE. If I had Darren Glass try and bury my head I'd go home and cry myself to sleep for a week.

In: Beams

Out: Dwyer

You're kidding... Kennedy's disposal was pretty poor last night. Definite out. Dwyer was very good, he won't be dropped.

In: Beams, Elliott.
Out: Ball (why risk it), Kennedy.

The fact that Subiaco is booked on the Saturday in week two could cause some headaches unfortunately. Would gives us back-to-back six day breaks if we have to play them.

Tell you what, there's going to be a great finals-like feel if we play North in the same mood they're in now.

We need to sharpen up our running game. And we also need to learn from their pin-point 40m-out passes into forward line.

Leave Grundy in. Saw Jolls, Hudson and Witta at Vic Park today and I don't think any of them are in hot enough form to push their way in.

Beams for Ball? He won't suffer for a week's freshen up and get the calf right. Otherwise as-is.

I think Didak playing really boosts the morale of the team. It also gets the fans excited which in turn boosts the players even more. Whether or not Elliott is fine, Didak must stay in.

The title of this thread says this game is played at Etihad. Just checked and it's played at the MCG. Unless I'm wrong?

Yeah it's at the G which is good! Etihad sucks.

North are an "Etihad Specialist" team, really they are. They grow an extra leg at that ground and could potentially beat Collingwood. But at the MCG (which this game will be played) North aren't so good.

c'mon dude, you sound like a woman.

:p

Out: Dwyer, Maxwell, both omitted (Dwyer unlucky, Kennedy lucky) Ball '(cautionary).

In: Elliot, Sinclair, Beams

why would you drop Blairy?? he was fantastic in the first half!

In: Beams
Out: Kennedy

Sinclair and Elliott might not be ready to play, if they are ready they come in though.

I'd expect Ball to play, a 9 day break helps him.

It really begins to get tough on selection, if they are ok to play who do we drop Seedsman for Sinclair ? and Dwyer or Didak for Elliott I can't pick it the reverse is just as good
