Really looking forward to the first game of the season, as well as the first home game. Footy is back!! Its hard to talk too much about this game without even knowing the teams yet, being that both teams dont have the 22 set in stone.

Speaking of which, are teams finalised on Wed night this week?

I don't care if we lose, as long as I see Rich spearing a 60 meter bullet into Fevola's chest.

I'd be happy to win and not see that personally.

Great write up Freddie, always appreciated these pre-game write ups!

I am most excited to see a full strength lions team in action! Since i don't particularly like any other sports, ITS A LONG OFF SEASON!!!

GO LIONS :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Crazy talk. A home game against a team that we were quite a way ahead of last year? I'll be spewing if we lose. I couldn't care less if Fevola doesn't even kick a goal, as long as we win.

Well, I'm pretty much saying my main interest in this game will be seeing Rich set Fev up with a 60 meter bullet.

Well Lionfan17, Rich has 22 Home and Away games + 3 finals ;) to do that. I am sure we won't be made to wait that long.

Need a win. definitely. :thumbsu:

Cheers all,
A win is a win is a win – as Sydney followers would remind us, whether it is a pretty win or an ugly win, you still receive 4pts.

Thurs teams on Wed – rest on Thurs – Sundays finalised on Friday… as per the norm I believe – but still looking for a quotable….

Yes I agree Nige... :D

I don't care if no one kicks a goal, as long as we win!! :D

Great game preview by blynd_freddie and for what it is worth, loved the new Lion (& West Coast) graphic before the thought police intervened and removed it. Can a moderator please explain why it was deemed necessary to remove the graphics...can't we actually have contested points of view on this issue and accept that some of us actually accept and like the new logo? Can we have it put back up please, given that freddie did the post with it and stop this Gulag type censorship!

I agree, let's have a vote - democratic, will of people and personally I'm happy to accept the decision. I'll set one up

Top work with the preview Fred - very much appreciated.

And a well done to weevil for the work in getting the previews up and running for 2010. For those who don't know, weevil sets up some sort of nerd system which generates previews for every club and every game. This takes many hours to do before the season starts.

And, despite this sterling work, we can't get past the jumper/logo issues on this thread.

This isn't going to continue. Match threads are a place for all Lions supporters to discuss the upcoming game. Take your fights about other issues to the appropriate thread. Some of us are actually interested in the footy.

.
Absolutely agree. these previews are really interesting to read and a lot of work goes in to them It is much appreciated by people like me who would have no idea how to do it.
Its time to forget all the complaining and just follow our boys playing footy. I think we all have a pretty fair idea of everyones opinins, god knows its been spoken and argued enough about.
I actually think it will take a few weeks for our team to gel, think we will get over the line but it will be a battle.Natenui will be almost unstoppable this year.I think he will become one of the biggest cult figures in AFL.
I wish all our newbies the best of luck and Go Vossy:thumbsu: hope your gambles pay off.Go Lions

Hear hear POBT....agree 110% - then those of us who have had an absolute gutful of the seemingly endless carping when there is the slightest semblance of an opportunity, can ignore those threads.

I see the first game as an real must win due to what we face in the very hard second half of the fixture.

Fortunately, most players are available and we have shown some good signs in the less than ideal pre-season games and we will field a strong side.I have no doubt that the Eagles will be an improved side this year and I am really looking forward to this one.

How good is it to be sitting here contemplating heading to the Gabba on Saturday night for a Lions match again?!?

Loving it. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of our new blokes in a live, competition points based, contest for the first time.

From a DT point of view very interested in team lineups come Thurs night too :D

GO LIONS!

Could this be a sign of a new marketing ploy if Todd Banfield gets a run on the weekend...

2010l10nswig.jpg

Geez any less than fifty fans wearing red wigs and all yelling out "HOT TODDY" every time he touched the ball would be a disgrace... :D
