With Leuey a chance of missing, maybe it is a good time to go with Witts as an out and out ruck. He will probably be going up against Longer who is hardly more advanced in his development so it could be a great opportunity to go with one of our younger rucks.

I can't agree with that at all. Longer is a #5 pick for a reason. He destroyed Wood last year.

He also did a number on Jolly in the pre-season. However, he is not to the standard of Leunberger just yet.

If Jolly misses, I reckon it would be a good idea to give Witts a decent chance to go it alone, with Lynch in support.

I know this is a crunch game, but we seriously need to keep an eye on development with our ruck stocks.

That said, Hudson would revel in the opportunity to play against his former side and would have decent inside knowledge of how they set up and how the midfielders crumb etc.

I think that's too good to pass up and Hudson should come in.

Yep, ruck development should happen in the VFL. We are playing the Northern Blues this week. That means we'll be facing Shaun Hampson and Levi Casboult.

No one can possibly say that facing those two will not be good for the development of Witts and Grundy.

Out Witts, Jolly, Blair, Clarke, Lynch

Ins Hudson Didak Shaw Martin Paine

Rockets up the arse of Sidey, Swan, Brown, Maxwell,

Don't have a second ruck, don't care. Hudson is durable and doesn't get injured and worth the risk.

Ball might also be rested after two games back from a knee reco. In which case, bring Josh Thomas in too for Ball.
Brown's been very consistent all year, adn wasn''t that bad on Friday?

Scapegoat.

I say it.

There is nothing like senior experience. Witts needs senior games and ruckwork is only 1 tenth of the reason. He needs to adapt to the pace of senior footy, know where to run, how to win the ball, how to protect space, how to take contested marks, and how and where to kick it. You cant learn that in teh VFL because the pace of the game is not as intense.

Its not as if Jolly is exactly flying at the moment either. Or Lynch.

We have a run of winnable games coming up so its the ideal chance to give Witts an extended run. Who knows, in six weeks or so when he goes back to the VFL and Grundy can come in as well.

Wood with his 13 disposals, 32 hitouts, 2 goals and 3 tackles was smashed by Longer's 7 disposal, 1 tackle and 32 hitout game?.. Yes he was pick #8 for a reason which is his potential to be a gun not his current ability to carry the ruck load. Witts would probably be outclassed, but the difference wouldn't be great enough to have more than a negligible impact on the match.

Witts & Jolly have the same issue when taking centre bounce ruck contests. neither can jump very high.
Height is great but if you can't get off the ground it's wasted. Can Witts develop a leap? or is it a case of this is his capabilities? Serious question. Lewy or Longer will both jump all over them at centre clearances. Hudson can at least still jump. I'd prefer him in & his VFL form has been extremely good.

Outs - Jolly, Witts, Clarke, Kennedy (needs a full game)
In's - Hudson, Paine, Shaw, Martin

Obviously the below does not have the Fremantle game where Kennedy played and Witts didn't, but these are the scores when Kennedy has been activated for the big man.

R6: With Witts: 56-50 - With Kennedy: 47-27
R8: With Witts: 76-89 - With Kennedy: 26-7
R9: With Witts: 23-58 - With Kennedy: 32-44

Overall with Witts: 155-197 (-42)
Overall with Kennedy: 105-78 (+27)

So the difference for three games is 69 points, divide that by three, and we're looking at 23 points (let's round it up to four goals), the difference so far between Witts or Kennedy (or big for small) on the ground.

Four goals per game.

And re: Longer, he averaged 13 hit outs per game before he played against Collingwood with a second string ruckman, and went out and had 31 against us.

His previous two games he averaged a hit out every 4.158% and 7.587% of time spent on the ground. Against Collingwood he got a hit out every 2.613% of time on ground.

Or, if converted to suggest he spent 100% of time on the ground for every game, his first game he was on target for 24, his second game he was on target for 13, and then against Collingwood, he was on target for 38. His output was going to be more than his first two games combined

I'd throw Kennedy in there as well. He played really well in the quarter and a bit that he got. Would love to see him get a full game in the AFL side next week.

Thank God someone said this, lets drop the 1 bloke who in the last qtr who had a crack. Full game this week, if he is sub or dropped i will be pissed off

Out - Jolly, Clarke, Lynch, Blair / Kennedy
In - Hudson, Paine, Shaw, Martin

Jolly out for Hudson as the latter will be fresher, Clarke out for Shaw, Lynch out for Paine, Blair for Martin (have not seen Martin play, but a number who have continue to rate him highly. Blair has done nothing wrong but would like Kennedy to get more game time and two 174 cm players makes us even smaller

With Brisbane playing pretty good footy, I'd go with Hudson and Lynch. Witts to play against Melbourne where any issues shouldn't effect the outcome.

Out: Jolly, Witts, Clarke
In: Hudson, Martin, Shaw

Witts Has to be out, Paine has been great, with there denfence gone, Jono Brown Gone. We Should Win, Bring Huddo In, Jolly has Made Two STUPID Mistakes In two weeks.

Hudson Brings Hunger.

Out: Jolly (rest), Witts (Omit.), Clarke (Omit.)
In: Hudson, Paine, Shaw
Would also like Didak or Martin in the side, but I can't find a replacement for either of them to come in.
