not at all... if you have a brown, bradshaw combo or a lance, rughhead combo.. you are pretty much set if your delivery is good... which ours isnt... it is so much easier for a defender to win a contest all they have to do it get a fist to the ball. thats why you kick to advantage.. which we don't.. so its only the brilliance of the two which gets them goals...

Well done to Melbourne ,they deserved the win.
Good games by Luke, Troy and Brown thats about it.
Copeland so slow , Collier out of his depth.Blacky shouldn't have played.
The world won't end, have a good rest boys and see how it pans out after the break.
Pretty annoyed though, 5th spot would have been good.

pace, but he is definetly not a very slow average midfielder. I think I can

Bullshyte - I reckon this game was rigged. That was an unusually long quarter...

And there is NO WAY in hell Melbourne is a better team than the Lions, or that Bailey is a better coach than premiership coach Matthews.

Brisbane were absolutely woeful today.they Didn't look like they were going to win from the first bounce and to be honest I thought they were average at best I hope Leigh gives them all a big kick up the ass tonight. A very poor effort.

All I can say is I hope they have learned from this because if they play anything like the way they played today against the Bombers in a fortnights time then they are going to beaten again.

Well... you have to congratulate the Dees... theres no doubt we were pretty awful but they just wanted it more... they were harder, faster... the just outplayed us. Its that simple really.

I cant help but wonder if the boys aren't reading their own press. They're playing with the confidence of a top 4 side but they sure dont have the skills of one. I cant understand their arrogance in taking on players and showing the opposition no respect.

Quite a few of the boys today just thought they were so much better than their opponents and that disrespect always ended up in a turnover or a tackle. I get that its about self belief but being delusional is never clever... Sherman, Corrie, Hooper, Drummo, MacDonald, Black even... come on guys... no one is so much better than the opposition you can be so lax when you have the ball in your hands...

And our tackling. Boy were we soft. The Dees scared us in the first 15 minutes and it was like we weren't game to touch them. Some of our smaller guys just wandered around lost. And when someone came close they stood there.

But perhaps the most frustrating thing creeping... no smothering... our game lately is the stupid bloody notion that we should stop playing and appeal for a whistle. Every time the ball is contested Adcock, Notting, Brennan all stop, stand up and appeal... meanwhile the ball comes out and we look stupid. Play the game. Dont stop. If it deserves a whistle it will happen. But dont bloody stop!!!

From what I could see there was a massive flood from both teams clogging our forward 50. It wasn't instigated by us as this was just what we didn't want. I'd have preferred a few of our guys to have hung back creating a wall outside 50 ready to pounce when it came out.
Not sure that we were out coached, but we were definitely out played.

i'm glad we have the week off, we know we can play better footy than all those teams, consistency and i'l say it for the millionth time disposal efficiency. I'm sure Leigh will be working hard on the boys to get them to their full potential to finish the season of strong.

I just got home and that was a SHOCKING PERFORMANCE. Worse than Hawthorn 2005 IMO. We should've won the game going into it. We should've won the game at every break. We shoul've won the game with 3 minutes to go and we didn't.

I am only going to concentrate on the experienced players who didn't perform.

Charman - Didn't deserve to be wearing the urine strip today. Doesn't deserve to be an AFL footballer on today's effort. If he was putting in his all and performing like he did today I wouldn't be that fussed to be honest. However, he just didn't have the energy in his performance. He would contest the ruck tap and then stand there and watch the ball get taken away from the centre. Clarks injury ( probably the worst part of the day for me - PCL possible and that would put him out for a while) may save Charman, but personally I'd rather have Leuenberger/Clark or just Leuenberger in there at the moment until Jamie remembers the "heart" he needs to play with.

Drummond - Worst game i've seen from him. Not even a "bad game on his standards" was just poor all day bar a few minutes.

Copeland - Today he had no agility, no skills and just no touch. If he is injured he shouldn't be playing. If he isn't then time has come for Bushy. He tried today, but ____ I could try my guts out there and still wouldn't deserve to be out there.

For me the only players to earn their pay checks today were Brown (who so is struggling with his knee - was almost limping pre-game IMO), Bradshaw, Power, Selwood, Rischa, Black and Clark. All the others have to show that today was the exception and not the rule.
