Should have won it but defence leaks too many easy goals and we have a forward line that's like a 90 years old with a hard on.

Out:Ottens Lonergan( Total Spud)
In: Mackie Gilles

Just BLAZE AWAY boys...!?

I remember going to the Geelong v Collingwood game in the early side of 2010 when Geelong got up by 6 goals. My brother kept highlighting a failed tactic that Collingwood were using which involved a player, when collecting the ball in traffic, was to just kick it as hard and far as he possibly could towards the goals.

Perhaps Collingwood AND Geelong have their moments when this works, but on that night Geelong exposed them for it.. and tonight, West Coast got us for it.

I am a big advocate for using more kicking than handballing through traffic, but by god, I don't mean just kick it when you don't know who or where you're kicking it to!

Why isn't there time on after a mark with 40sec to go?

We have had times where we time-on has helped us (Freo in 2008).

Lot of upside. How poor we were in the first half. We are never beaten. We lost the game in the 2nd half with some silly mistakes up forward. I feel pretty good because we showed we are never beaten. Have to laugh at Bruce and Denis almost celebrating like Eagles won a flag.

Honestly, tonight has showed me that we have what it takes to go all the way.

I think we will take some positives out of that second half. We figured out how to stop teams doing that to us.

Bit late though, there are still plenty of other issues.

Why are we unable to kick absolutely regulation goals? Just like last week we had some absolute stock standard set shots that we butchered. Menzel's was the worst, but not alone.

Why did it take them a half to realise they actually had to go in and get the ball?

Lastly, I hope I never ever again hear how good a kick Josh Hunt is. Gave away 2 goals through appalling disposal. We lost by 8 points. Funny that.

Pity the Other thread was closed before I could report that last post by the lion poster, doubt he would had got a card anyway knowing this board mods.

Frustrating first half and we blew our chances in the second. What a waste of a year if the boys can't turn it around, hopefully the break will refresh them.

FWIW I don't think we have much chances come finals time, love to be proven wrong and for this to be a mini form slump.

Our ability doesn't waver, but our motivation may be.

It's not all bad - we were 40 points down and fought back hard against a team that is playing very well after obliterating Carlton in Victoria at their home ground.

I think we saw a lot of things that worked in the second half, but the coaches are going to have to keep the team invigorated and hungry if we want to have a chance in September.

We had two identical losses in 2009, so maybe the mid-season losses are necessary to keep the hunger alive.

Our endeavour was much better in the second half. Hopefully we can carry that into next week :thumbsu:

Realistically, we probably should've won the game (though didn't necessarily deserve to).

I think we really lack another focal point up forward to take the heat off Pods.

The Eagles are a quality side, kudos to them.

Ottens certainly did have a hard night, you could tell by the look of frustration about him.

Pretty disappointed in this and I don't feel the "only 8 points after a shit half etc" comments/excuses. FIX IT, or we are going nowhere quickly.

Obviously the 1st half cost us the game; playing catch up is hard to do.....

I think that Moons or Hawk have to be definites; just need that 2nd focal point in the forward half.

Did anyone else think that Otto was copping it left, right and centre (including from the umps???) Was really disappointed with the treatment that he copped during the night.

@Copernicus: This year? I don't think we have. Sick of playing rubbish quarters or halves, then trying to save it. We suck right now. Here's hoping we play WCE in Melbourne in a final, I expect a different result.

Deja Vu much?? Jesus, we start brightly, completely ****ing stop for nearly 45 minutes, work our way into a game thats pretty much gone and then butcher chances to win it.

You would not want any of our KPF's taking an important shot in a big game. FFS, 2 of them cant even make the side. Luckily our early wins and home games against minnows to follow should ensure top 2, regardless top 4 should guarantee a home final, but there is clearly a lot of work to be done deciding on our 22 for finals.
