Not a lot of sides could lose Ottens, Scarlett and Mooney or their equivalent and travel after a six day break and win well. We nearly had them but too loose on unknowns like Ballantine, Hill, Duffield and Broughton. Pavlich's six goals the most by him for almost two seasons. We will be better back in Victoria with our big guns back.
Would venture to say that 18.17.125 (35 scoring shots) is the most we've conceded for absolute ages. Even in the Pies whipping they scored 20.14.134. Without Milburn and Scarlett our defence was leaking big time.
Lazy, shameful and utterly ####en pathetic performance. Were 21 points up late in the third. Back line and perhaps midfield need serious kick up the @$$ for disgusting unaccountable display for much of the match. And for the last time Blake can #### off. Would prefer Hawkins/Mooney back pinch hitting in the ruck along with Ottens/Simpson if need be.
Oh well, we did alright considering our history against Fremantle at Subiaco, the fact that Freo are a largely imrpoved side, we were missing Ottens, Scarlett, Milburn, Mooney, Rooke and Varcoe and were coming off a six day break after an extremely physical Hawthorn game.
Disappointing that we don't get to play them again this year. I'd really like to see how they come off against a more full and fit Geelong side.
Freonjust had to much run in the end, it's been a while since I have seen Geelong under so much pressure and making so many mistakes, the freo players were lose everywhere. We should have won, but to many errors and behinds lost it, had we of kicked the easy goals we should have in late 2nd half and early in the third, the game would have been over. Pavlich must love it when he finds out he's playing Geelong, because everytime we play Freo he has a field day out, and Sandilands, 37 hit-outs, Blake is useless, why we kept him and got rid of Mumford just dazzles me.
