Heath Shaw, Collingwood, has been charged with a level three striking offence (225 demerit points, two-match sanction) for striking Hayden Ballantyne, Fremantle, during the second quarter of the Round Seven match between Collingwood and Fremantle, played at Patersons Stadium on Saturday May 22, 2013.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Fremantle Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and groin contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a level three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.

Maybe better to just take it and get him back for the Swans

Massive loss to a defensive group who are already low on proven quality. Only have to look at the options to come in to see how short we are. Jordan Russell in at a guess which doesn't exactly fill you with confidence. Good luck to him though, I am a believer in his talent, just not sure he has work ethic and attitude to match.

hope you guys challenge it as it was a rubbish decision

To be honest, he should be rubbed out for it! As minimal as the contact was, it was a stupid thing to do and being a male who enjoys extra curricular activities I believe the groin area to be out of bounds to anyone of the same gender :)

i think he barely touched him
if you look at the reaction it seemed like playing for a free, and if he was against a normal person he would have slapped his knee

Are Goldsack & ben fit though?
Pretty sure Goldy just had a sore hip, should play, but Johnson will probably be forced to play 1 VFL game before being considered after missing the last few weeks.

Williams has to play now Shaw is out, it's just plain dumb if we don't choose our best available small defender.

Normally, i would agree with bringing in Willaims but against a rampaging Geelong side do we want to expose the kid? I know Russell does a few silly things every game but he is big strong body that can at least take the hits..

Geelong have had some slow starts and blistering second halves this year.

-Round 1: 30 points down with 2 mins to go in the second, win by 7
-Round 2: 41 points down in the second, win by 4
-Round 3: Down by 16 halfway through the second and win by 16
-Round 4: Down by 18 halfway through the second and win by 21
-Round 6: Down by 19 with 5 mins to go in the second, win by 44
-Round 7: Down by 21 halfway through the second, win by 28

We cannot die away like we have a few times this year or we will get smashed.

Williams has a long future though, Russell does not, I'd rather play someone who is going to give us run and drive off half back (like Shaw does) and can also defend rather than a medium defender who has the turning circle of a mack truck.

The Cats smalls will tear Russell apart anyway, so we may as well go with the younger option.

Yep, i see your point but is Marley's disposal any good? I would hate to see him kick it in the middle straight to a Geelong player after gut running 50 meters.
In saying that Dale Thomas did that on the weekend so why not Marley

Far-canal Heater you god-damn goof-ball psychopath of the highest ******ed order! Still luv ya...

I'm no longer willing to logically process our prospects this week. I'm just going to sit in my designated spot at the G and watch a game of footy. I'll be hoping and supporting. Logic is waaaay overrated!

IN: Williams, Goldsack, Martin (upgrade for Tooves)
OUT: Shaw, Clarke (if injured), Mooney (if injured)

Martin would be a good big bodied player to have in the midfield considering how much we are struggling in that area. Goldy to play back as some experience and Marley to balance out small defenders.

In: Goldsack, Ball, Didak, Williams
Out: Shaw, Clarke, Mooney (if injured), Kennedy, Elliott (if Mooney not injured).

Also the possibility of Lynch not getting up. Tough to bring someone versatile like that in, Witts not enough forward minded and Paine not a ruckman.

Need speed this week and Mooney stays in purely for that reason. In saying that I think we have too many small players and a bit of height needs to be added.

Good selection but I'd drop Jolly for Hudson on this one. Jolly got beaten by a 3rd gamer last weekend and the Spud Dawson and was as complacent as they come. Can't get a game on name alone.

Williams should come in but I've a feeling Russell is probably still next in line. We're going to be torn apart by the Geelong smalls anyway so I'd like to see if Williams can hold his own. Surely Seedsman with his pace can run with another one of them. He's clearly not good enough to play this luxury outside role which he seems to be playing at the moment. Decision making isn't good enough yet so I'd like to see him being given a bit of defensive responsibility to focus his game a bit more.

Ball hopefully is ready because we need him badly. If not then give Kennedy another shot although he was completely unsighted the other night until he kicked a good goal.

Mooney had more touches, tackles and goals than Elliott in less than half the game time so deserves another shot if fit, Elliott just hasn't been in it the last few weeks.

I'd be half tempted to throw Didak in as well but I'm not mad on making too many changes week by week.

Williams - Brown - Maxwell
D.Thomas - Reid - Seedsman

O'Brien - Ball - Sidebottom

Dwyer - Lynch - Blair
Goldsack - Cloke - Mooney

J.Thomas Clarke Macaffer Sub: Krakouer

who would have thought we would be saying this about Geelong a couple of years ago, but their forwards have alot of leg speed. We will find it hard to deal with motlop, christenson and stokes, thats why Shaw out is massive, because you know he would keep one of them quiet.

However, i feel in the big man department we will have them well covered. Hawkins is playing severely injured, JPOD is a dud in my opinion, and Harry Taylor will be forced to play back on Cloke and the Q.

IN: L.Ball, T.Goldsack, A.Didak
OUT: H.Shaw(suspended), C.Mooney, B.Kennedy

B: N.Maxwell, N.Brown, B.Macaffer
HB: H.O'brien, B.Reid, D.Thomas
C: S.Sidebottom, S.Pendlebury, M.Clarke
HF: A.Krakouer, Q.Lynch, A.Didak
F: J.Elliott, T.Cloke, T.Goldsack
R: D.Jolly, D.Swan, L.Ball
I: S.Dwyer, J.Blair, J.Thomas
Sub: P.Seedsman

Really disappointing not to have Shaw, but 3 pretty big ins. Ball really adds that experience and ball winning ability to our midfield. Didak adds the class around the 50, and Goldy who i have gone with to play forward, can really create that pressure we need.

Our side will look really strong in the next few weeks with Beams, Shaw and Young to come into it, really hope we can get over the line this week.
