I would say it is 99.9% unlikely that Davey gets a bid inside the top 10. It is possible but my view is it will not happen. I think the Davey bid will be 14 to 20.
I think any trades will have some form of 3rd or 4th round picks coming in for points. My suggestion was a swap of second round position so they get 22 and we get 32 plus their 4th , pick 68.
We go to the draft with 4 7 32 41 59 68 77.
We will have to be mindful of list positions too.

Depending on who goes and if we bring in Bowes, we may only have 5 or 6 list spots going into the draft which limits the amount of picks we can carry in. Though I doubt Jayden Davey attracts a bid too early so if we can match a bid for Alwyn without going into defecit we should be OK.

Update:
Players we've been liked to;

Bedford
McKenna
Mitchell
Phillips

Hird
Solomon
Yze
Lade
Giansiracusa

Off the list;
Dunkley
Tucker
Taranto
Brayshaw
Marshall
Rankine
Zurhaar
Jones

Clarko
Lyons
Cameron
Hinkley
Hansen
Graham

This is crap.
Barham's position is surely untenable. He needs to stand down.

Edit: included Gia as per citizen-erased
Update:
Players we've been linked to;
McKenna
Mitchell
Phillips
Bowes
Corbett
Setterfield

So, that list is narrowing and with less quality than we expected with our war chest.

Off the list;
Bedford
Dunkley
Tucker
Taranto
Brayshaw
Marshall
Rankine
Zurhaar
Jones

Interesting players we've heard nothing of links with;

Stocker
Graham
Narkle
Ratugolea
Bytel
OHalloran
Robertson
Robinson

I hope we take an interest in Graham if we don't/can't land Bowes7. Pick 7 is too good to pass up.

Edit: Setterfield added, as per rusman.

Which page is his again? Haven't had a good laugh in a while

True. It is a bit tight for spots.

If Bowes chooses us then I think it will be a future pick , probably F2. Maybe a swap of second round picks as they have 3 this year , 22 for 32 so they move up in the draft and also get one of their third or fourth round picks. The cream for us will be going to the draft with 4 & 7 and keeping our F1. We use up some mid range picks on A Davey.
Something like Pick 22 and F2 for Bowes , 7 + 32 + 68.
Not sure we get much in for Francis. Sydney 4th with help with some points.
Other than some live trading I do not see much more. If we stay with Brand and Eyre we will have 6 spots.
I reckon f2 and f3 for bowes, 7 and 31 is doable.
31 and 22 for lions first as well.
Leaves us 40 and francis pick for davey bid, then the later picks to do with what we can. (Jayden and mukara possibilities)

4-sheezel
7-clarke/humphrey
15 - keeler (unless 4 is cadman, then id go george or konstanty)
Davey bid

Imagine that's 4 in the top 20.

We burn the later rounds next year, but suspect we can get back in via trades and something tells me parish goes to geelong via FA. So ill take a bottom finish next year to take a shot at 2x top 5 picks.

Please keep this a Boops free zone. The blokes is that off his head it isn’t funny.

...and they all have x-factor, which is code for "...can't possibly have learned something from a coach or someone else. It must be some kind of black magic."

Yep, completely degrades the dedication in effort and training required to acquire their skills.
Ease up you two. I said Narkle had x-factor. But so do Menzie and Perkins. Guelfi and Snelling don’t.

What’s x-factor? I would define it as agility, brilliance, the ability to do something unexpected.

Do you believe Narkle has it? Because if you do, we are in agreement.

Do I reckon Narkle who has been delisted would be worth trying at low cost as a small forward? Yep.

It would be good to argue those points.

I agree with you that generalizations are often made about indigenous players. But not every comment about an indigenous player is a generalization, even if it aligns with what is generally said of indigenous players.

If you know me a bit from my posts here you would know that I’m posting in good faith and maybe even that I have a pretty solid human rights focus.

So what do you think about Narkle?

Add setterfield to the list.

Cal mentioned we are interested in him 2 days ago on trade radio and he is still
Unsigned

With trade period starting tomorrow here is my current wishlist.

  • Re-sign Brand, Eyres, Baldwin and Menzie to 1 year deals.
  • Delist Waterman and Ham (trade them for a late pick if somebody is dumb enough)
  • Trade Francis and #59 to Sydney for #36
  • Trade F2nd to the Suns for Bowes and #7.
  • Sign Narkle and Stoker as DFA.
  • Draft Sheezel at #5
  • Draft Clarke at #8
  • Match Bids on both Daveys whenever they come or draft Jayden with our last pick if nobody else takes him.
  • Upgrade Martin and Durham to the main list
  • Draft Munkarra in the rookie draft if available, if not available hold onto the rookie spot for the MSD.

Leaves us at 38 players on the main list and 5/6 on the rookie list.

Baldwin has already re-signed.

And we can get Munkara as a Cat B Rookie

Personally I've never thought Narkle had x-factor.

I like him as a player though and know we've talked to him about a move in the past to Essendon. I'd be happy to have him more as mid-forward and possibly depth.

What about him says X factor?

He is an inside mid and an average one at that.

Could he fill a role as a small forward for us? No, too slow and not enough goal sense.

Could he fill a role as midfield depth. Yep.

Actually, screw waiting for the trade period to end, here you go Yoda_

42-44 players on a list, 36-38 main list, 4-6 cat a rookie list, 0-2 cat b rookie list.

This year we rean with 36/6/2.

Smith, Cutler, Hurley, McDonagh, Walla are off the main list
Hird off the Cat B list
D'Ambrosio and Menzie onto the Cat A list.

Which means right now we're running with 31, 8 and 1.

Francis, Ham, Brand and Eyre are OOC for the main list
Menzie and Waterman for the Cat A list

If we cut Waterman (which looks likely to me) we only need to promote 1 rookie. I'm assuming Francis and Ham will get traded (only reason he hasn't been cut at this stage I'd think), with Menzie, Brand and Eyre retained. Which means we'd be running with:

29, 7 and 1. At least one rookie needing promotion (probably Durham or Martin or both), then 6 players to come in. If we get Bowes that's 5. So someone like Narkle as a DFA and then take 4 players in the ND.

If we get Bowes leaving us with 5 spots then we obviously get pick 7 as well. The 5 spots fill up very quickly with pick 4, 7 and Alwyn Jnr and Jayden at the ND. Munkara would leave us completely maxed out. Leaves no room for any of Stocker, Narkle etc. Do you think possibly 1 of Brand or Eyre might be in trouble or McBride?

McBride is independent as he is a Cat B (you are allowed 2 Cat Bs) that don't count within the senior/rookie 42.
