If we get Bowes leaving us with 5 spots then we obviously get pick 7 as well. The 5 spots fill up very quickly with pick 4, 7 and Alwyn Jnr and Jayden at the ND. Munkara would leave us completely maxed out. Leaves no room for any of Stocker, Narkle etc. Do you think possibly 1 of Brand or Eyre might be in trouble or McBride?
There is the chance that no bid on National draft day is made on Munkara

Which would mean he could be placed on the Cat B with Mcbride

Leaving us with a spot leftover in the 42 for a DFA ie Stocker/Narkle

I guess it depends on how much they want Munkara, but you would still need picks to grab him in case he is bid on.

I think we also need some picks to use to match the bid for Davey (especially if we are trading out 22).

Actually, screw waiting for the trade period to end, here you go Yoda_

42-44 players on a list, 36-38 main list, 4-6 cat a rookie list, 0-2 cat b rookie list.

This year we rean with 36/6/2.

Smith, Cutler, Hurley, McDonagh, Walla are off the main list
Hird off the Cat B list
D'Ambrosio and Menzie onto the Cat A list.

Which means right now we're running with 31, 8 and 1.

Francis, Ham, Brand and Eyre are OOC for the main list
Menzie and Waterman for the Cat A list

If we cut Waterman (which looks likely to me) we only need to promote 1 rookie. I'm assuming Francis and Ham will get traded (only reason he hasn't been cut at this stage I'd think), with Menzie, Brand and Eyre retained. Which means we'd be running with:

29, 7 and 1. At least one rookie needing promotion (probably Durham or Martin or both), then 6 players to come in. If we get Bowes that's 5. So someone like Narkle as a DFA and then take 4 players in the ND.
Durham and Martin have to go to the main list before Mass and Menzie because of their deals taking them past the 3 year rookie limit.

Isn't Mass already on the main list because he took Walla's list spot and signed an 18 months contract ?

I thought you could still keep them on for 3 years

Martins contract ends after being with the club for 3 years so he can regardless

in the example outlined by ants555 those later picks 41, 59, 68 ect would also likely come in a bit after the Ashcroft bid

Worst case we trade a F4 with gold coast aswell

Nope, everyone drafted from the MSD is automatically rookie listed, which is pretty pointless tbh

Yes, I was just referring to it from an available list spots perspective. I think you need to have available list spots to use those picks (could be wrong).
It therefore might have implications for Brand, Eyre, Menzie etc.

It does make you wonder about the need or usefulness of having Heppell for another year.

In all honesty, unless someone like GWS went all stupid and offered 3 & 10 for Parish, we're far better off letting it ride for a year where Scott will have a year with him and if the club deem they want to go a different path, then we'd get a first round compensation for him in any event.
i'd trade for 3. That's about the best we'd get next year if he went as a FA.
Get the deal done for Bowes & 7, trade 22 up to say 15 with some points loading to Brisbane.
That's 2 of Cadman, Sheezel or Wardlaw...possibly the dream scenario of Cadman + Sheezel
Then Clarke/Humphrey/McKenzie
then 15 + Davey.

5 in the top 20 coming through together along with Hobbs, Martin, Durham, Mass, Cox, Reid, Perkins, Jones, Bryan, Draper, Caldwell and McGrath. solid young core.

I know a lot on here are dreaming about Bowes (Well mostly pick 7), but surely he picks Geelong. Gold Coast has said it's up to him. Selwood has retired, there's a spot, and you can go and play with the reigning premiers.
I'm not sure what the EFC consort that met with him would have been able to sell him that would top that.

Has there been any updates on McKenna? The talk of him going to Geelong makes paying for Bowes tougher for them.
Not really. Whoever McKenna signs with will have zero draft impact
