Is this in regards to Tom Browne's groundbreaking report that at least one club has asked the question on Greene but it's extremely unlikely anything will get done?

There was a report from Tom Browne that Greene wasn’t happy with Taranto and Hopper leaving. He also stressed he won’t be traded, can put a pin in that one.

After missing out on bowes. We should be super into Haynes and a top 20 pick from gws. Similiar contract to bowes and gws have 4 top twenty picks. Might have to give something back f3 or even 22 depending on which pick. but with hopper still to be done I think gws would rather get out of his contract then potentially 1 more top twenty pick. 4 already plus whatever they get for hopper.

From a gws perspective worth getting rid of hopper and Haynes for the cap space. Although means we would be less of a chance to pry time Greene next year.

In this bold new age of trading, I wonder if we could call Hawthorn, North or Brisbane about trading us a first rounder in exchange for another scandal to keep them out of the news for another week or month?
Geelong would only pip us anyway somehow.
like finding the cure for covid or the like.

With these salary dumps for draft capital you should have to take the original contract on your books for the length of the deal. Geelong getting away Scott free by smoothing it out to 450-500 a year.

I would think if the AFL want to tighten up on a club like Geelong taking advantage of it, then this. Must take on the original terms of the outgoing deal ie. 2 x $850k.

Smoothing out the deal makes it possible for a club that shouldn't be able to take advantage of a salary dump trade, to take advantage of it, whilst the whole point was supposed to be that poor performing clubs struggling to meet the cap floor would be able to do so.

I agree, the Cats reward for taking on the horrible contract is pick 7, they are no longer taking on a horrible contract.

Exactly. It should only be available to teams that can afford it. Thus creating some level of equalisation and benefit to the bottom teams given free agency has worked out completely opposite to what they were planning.
I think the solution is obvious.

At the end of each year the bottom four get a whole bunch of blue shells, stars, and bullet-o-bill transmogs and the remaining teams get one banana peel each
