Also it’s got me stumped why the club advocates for these 1:45pm games on a Saturday. We lose whatever home ground advantage we can get when the scg is up and rocking at night.

Can’t recall a game we have played well at this time and the crowd is usually tepid too.
….. because the Swans told them to sit politely and not boo.

There were a few chase down tackles yesterday

not exactly a huge crowd

fair lack of communication and awareness
A marketing campaign is needed:

“Come to the SCG to celebrate The King!’s 125,000th Bigfooty post“.

I can picture fans flooding onto the ground the moment it appears.

Happened all day. Arguing about who’s guarding who, looking around in shock that there players are taking uncontested marks, throwing head back when players weren’t cutting in front on players on the lead. Showed a real disconnect
Our defensive structures also Vear the ground are terrible. Too many guard space and oppo just waltz the ball upfield. The pressure gauge is all you have when stocks are low like ours are. Pressure is not a skill but an attitude, it’s the one area we can compete regardless…..if we are fit. I have questioned our fitness for a while…it appears we just don’t physically have 4 qtrs in us.

I bet The King doesn’t show up!!!

toasties for everyone

I might get there today if Dawson plays well

If we decide to blood some talent for the rest of the year, the genuine question is who…,,there is not much in the cupboard. The other thing is we are struggling as it is to recruit experienced talent, the way this season looks to be going, it will be near impossible. I have great concerns for our depth….our VFL side looks like they will not win a game this season and the highlights there are few. It’s hard to even expect AFL regulars to play well in that team given the lack of talent in it. The gap between VFL and AFL for us is worrying. Look at the lions Suns and GWS all inside top 8 VFL. The quality of the comp is not the issue…the quality of our list vs those 3 is extremely concerning.

I think right now the obvious choices would be Sheldrick and Warner.

Perhaps give Edwards a few games, even if he isn't quite ready.

Edwards is miles off.

As much as I’d love to see a young tall emerge as AFL standard, it isn’t Edwards yet. Gifting him games would not be appropriate.

The blooding of talent doesn't necessarily have to come from outside the current best 22. We have players like Campbell in a back pocket and Rowbottom playing as a negating mid, positions and roles that clearly aren't maximising their potential at all. They were presumably implemented to net wins and preserve our contender status. Obviously it's been a fruitless endeavour, and with the season now as good as dead, there's little point now in not allowing some of these players to explore their full potential. So I'd be looking from within before turning to the VFL players first.

Problem is we desperately need a tall defender, and him and Melican are the only options right now.

It honestly would not surprise me for next week if we have

In
Sheldrick
Melican

Out
Mills
McDonald

Big 👍

Give players like Campbell and Rowy the chance to explode in the roles the recruiters selected them for.

Give players like Gould, Stephens and Gus the chance to develop in the role they were recruited for.

Stop the practice of assuming any player <23 years old isn’t “ready” to play their natural role.

Maybe we are a 8-12 team, in the middle of a re-build, who clicked spectacularly last year. Maybe the biggest issue is psychological ... we thought we were back and took the foot off the pedal (in the draft and the preseason).

idk

If you are fair dinkum about your support for your club you go any time and go your hardest with support. Time slot is irrelevant.

Crowd Tepid ? Crowd were insipid.
The only noise you could hear was like a social gathering of chatting and glasses clanking. Pathetic.

More atmosphere from the Swans fans last week at the MCG. Be interesting what we will be like at Marvel next week

I guess some slots clash with other commitments more ?

Taking my Grandkids to their first game. Lucky the season is done and they won’t see Pop at his worst. All the same will be there hoping for a win.
I'm going with friends, and then to GABS (beer festival) after. So if we lose, I have a good outlet.

Hope your grand kids enjoy it, the first game is always special!

All for not booing and the ridiculous rubbish it has become but sit and be polite ? They can stick that. Get up make some noise and support your team.
“Sweet Caroline” and all the let’s be happy music is a direct strategy to alter crowd mood.

We never had the intimidation factor of WA, SA and Vic crowds. And I’d never want the SCG to be like West Coast crowds.

But yesterday was pretty pathetic. “Hey, we’re losing and the umps are abysmal - but let’s just chat among ourselves and wait for Sweet Caroline”.

Crowds DO impact player and umpire performance.

Agree 100 percent. Worst part is I’m a Neil Diamond fan.
Time and place though !

This.

The players under 23 are not the major source of disappointment

Family / work only thing should keep you away. Unless of course you live on an Island ! 🤪

The only times I haven't gone was when I was overseas or the first year when we were moved to Sydney.

Simply cannot go now for health reasons
