He had 14 disposals and 3 goals in the Pies game three weeks after he got injured. Had 16 disposals and 3 goals in the Bombers game four weeks after he got injured. He then had two weeks off in the space of a month leading in to the GF.

Not sure Hayward can play the injury card (nor can many.)

I guess it's possible. But he looked like he could have benefitted with a few weeks off after the Brisbane game to me.

Yeah I would've rested him for sure. I was one calling for Hayward and Grundy to be rested in particular. I just don't think it had anything to do with his grand final performance.
