Rampe turns 33 in June so I bloody hope we aren't pinning our hopes on him.

wouldnt pin hopes on Rampe, Reid or PMcartin,

Doubt two of them even play again

just get Tom right

we miss Rampe so much, even just the leadership

That was just painful to watch from the opening bounce.

Gulden was fantastic today but very few of his team mates had his back.

Whatever happens between now and seasons end, we must draft a KPD as Francis and Gould do not look up to it.

Getting more games Into the young ones has to be the priority now.

PS - heard a rumour from a member I sit with today who knows someone in the club that there are grave concerns over the playing future of Tom McCartin as well as Paddy. Goss without saying what a disaster that would be on numerous fronts.

Gulden was exceptional Rowbottom a lot better. Campbell and Fox had a decent crack. Heeney was improved. Francis good early on but faded.
Papley from being a consistent contributer is now red hot or crap , tries to take it on too much. Hickey got smashed in the ruck like a previous comment said he struggled to get off the ground in the first half but started to try and go up early in the second half. Buddy looks like he needs a break was never really in the game.
I suppose the only thing we can look forward to next week is a bit of new blood depending on who if anyone returns from injury. Could be ugly but now the season has pretty much gone it's a chance to change things around. The bye can't come quickly enough for us.

I love our club & it's history. I love our fight & never give up attitude. I love our bloods culture.

Where the bloody hell is it though?

I see excuses like injuries & holes in the structure, sure... But I also see selfish play, disorganised play, illogical play... Things a well run, professional club like ours shouldn't ever let happen.

Wake up Bloods.

It was notable that we didn’t bomb to Buddy today - which I thought was a positive.

But ultimately, Freo had quality talls & we didn’t. Especially after Logan’s exit.

I might be in minority - but I actually thought the mids went OK. Just hard when you lack forward targets, so we over-possessed.

Rowy, Campbell and Errol in particular I thought had good games.

The biggest issue - the VFL side is dire. Apart from Gus and perhaps McAndrew, there’s just nobody even remotely putting their hand up.
Parker was a gun…he kept us in it. Warner..not so much but he tried.

I think some posters are being harsh on Gould.

It was only his 2nd real game.

At one stage, he made a really smart decision to go long which led to a goal - if Fox had done the same, the board would have melted down with love.

He has a booming kick & a powerful unit. There’s a bit to work with there.

Francis took sone good intercept marks - but his lack of pace is always going to be a BIG limiting factor.

I see more upside in Gould.

And I find it hard to be critical of Blakey when he’s clearly being forced into unsuitable match-ups.

I’ve also heard that Tommy Mac’s career is on shaky ground. Which is frightening on multiple levels.

Jesus. If he's out for the season then you can basically mark any big KPF down for 8 goals or more whenever they play us. There's just no-one else (well, other than Lewis Melican lol) that can play on the talls.

yeah probably re gould, give him an extended run

blakeys unsuitable matchup is having an opponent :p

The positives
I can guarantee that we won't register another 3 losses over the next 3 rounds, we have a bye in round 12
Gulden's performance was sublime
Fox, Maclean, mcdonald (before injury), mcinerney, and a few others had good moments.

The negatives
Too numerous to mention

Other thoughts
The post-GF-thrashing hoodoo is a real thing. I'm sure each club provides reasons why their club will buck the trend, but for one reason or another (or multiple), the trend is consistent
The season is cooked
It's time to get games into the younger guys and send the older players who won't be part of our next premiership side to the 2s (Cunningham)
I think we need to "manage" buddy once McDonald returns and maybe give him a few games around the country as a retirement tour)
I'd rather we play small and have McLean and a resting ladhams /Hickey as our only talls (until McDonald & armatey come back)
I'm considering creating a "deathriding sydney" thread to accompany the Hawthorn one. Based on pre-season expectations, the benefits of Sydney finishing near the bottom of the ladder would be more lucrative than the Hawthorn pick.

I've seen nothing to make me convinced of Gould.

But I've also seen nothing to make me thing he should be condemned to obscurity either.

What a challenging back 6/7 to be introduced in.

What his future holds and what he becomes will depend on his attitude IMO. Needs to be completely committed to being the player we need him to be and not let his opportunities - however many or few there are - get into his head.

Ordinarily you say just play the kids now but I guess we already are.

Gotta wonder about the club's drafting coming into this season...

Paddy always had an asterisk next to his name. One hit and he was always done, poor bugger.

Reid has always been fickle. This won't be the first season he won't play a game.

Rampe is mid 30s and any good games we get from him now are a bonus.

Buddy is on the slide. No shame in it, he's old. Vast majority of big men are gone much earlier than him.

Hickey is on his last legs.

** And yet they felt no need to fill the gaps. **

So, worst case scenario, we could see a quarter of the team unusable in the short term and we really don't have any natural depth I can see.

We're been unlucky to see so many injuries, but to not plan contingencies is either arrogant of just dumb.

PS If that's true about Tom Mc we're doubly f^rkt

That would be exciting though. At least there'd be something to play for. Now the games are just dead rubbers with nothing but pride on the line. That's boring.

There's always something to play for, the work and attitude we bring to each game each week could set many of the younger players up for a much better season next year. Or if they take the wrong route it could condemn to more poor seasons in the future. Whether we're winning or losing the approach could have a critical impact on years to come, so win or lose hopefully we continue to see particularly the younger players grow and improve.

** And yet they felt no need to fill the gaps. **

That might be the story we in the public got, but behind closed doors every club is always looking to improve the list in any way possible each year. They just wanted to be seen as backing the players we have in which is exactly what they should do.
