USA Another US mass shooting

Growing I always thought I'd like to live in the States for a bit when I got older. Even as recently as a few years ago I thought this.

These days I just don't know what if I could. Imagine living in a country where you're literally wondering if today's the day someone is going to come in and shoot up your kids school. That's just horrfying.

Nothing's going to get changed ever in my opinion. They seemingly view gun restrictions as something like prohibition in the 20s when they dumped it. It won't stop everyone from using them and harming, therefore keep guns legal and as easy to access as possible.

Bunch of ****ing idiots they are.

Nikolas Cruz, an Antifa fanatic, has been described as
"He was kind of an outcast. He didn't have many friends. He would do anything crazy for a laugh, but he was trouble."
Your typical Antifa loser. Domestic terrorists.

Yes but if you repeal the 2nd Amendment they will all get handed into the authorities

Ah.

A meme.

Amend the Constitution, repeal (or replace) the second amendment, introduce legislation similar to ours (allowing firearm ownerhip, but requiring regular target shooting and onerous safetey rules and rigorous background checks), implement legislation making a crime with or in connection to a firearm automatically carry the maximum sentence, grandfather that law to come into effect in two years time, and then initiate a gun buyback (with a 12 month amnesty attached).
Unfortunately the group think is that 30,000 injured or killed each year is the price you pay to be able to defend yourself in your home.

There's also too many guns in the hands of criminals who wouldn't give them up for any reason. The NRA may own all the polies in Washington, but they culture and fear of being defenceless is real regardless of the NRA.

It's too easy to blame the NRA.

Sure they're a disgusting organisation but really they are only doing what they're paid to do.
They're also paying politicians to do what they want.

Not sure if it was the same night but his interview with Alex Jones was also amusing.

Piers repeating "Alex... Alex... Alex" made him sound like that dubbed video of the animals and the Chipmunk keeps going "Alan... Alan... Alan..."

Nah this one.

They're also paying politicians to do what they want.
They don't pay anywhere near us much as people would believe.

Being pro-gun is the easy default position for anyone running for office in the US. It's like claiming to be a Christian. Trump is the classic example. Doesn't own guns, doesn't go to church, but the moment he's running for office he claims to be a Christian gun lover. The NRA don't need to pay politicians for them to be pro-gun.

We should just accept most Americans believe gun ownership represents freedom. Until that attitude changes, the politics of gun ownership wont change.

Except that suicides caused by access to weapons is a constant argument of control advocates.

Not a very good argument when our suicide rates are just as high.

Also the focus on mass shootings seems a bit disproportionate, when there are gun fatalities in excess of 10K per year in the US, but we focus on incidents that comprise less than 1% of them.

Lost for words every time this happens. So much anger and disgust at those complicit. I can't understand the mindset of how this is acceptable and I don't want to - but I suppose understanding is only way to resolve a problem. Hard to reason with collective insanity though.

They do more than that, they are in the driving seat on the issue. They are in the vanguard and try to push the envelope, the way you worded it sounds a bit like they are passive just doing someone else's bidding. They do the bidding.

There's gun nuts on Twitter telling people they need cops in schools because they have them at banks. They're also blaming 'leftists' because it's apparently a side in politics' fault for some loon being able to go and buy whatever guns he pleases.

They look at every ****ing ridiculous solution to these awful crimes and always ignore the most obvious of all.

They are doing the bidding of people who pay their NRA dues.

What would you expect them to do? Not act in their interests?

Americans love the concept of gun ownership. Accept it and save yourself the heartburn. I think it's f***ed up but it is what it is. We aren't going to change their views if weekly mass shootings don't.

They do nurture and create that demand. It's a self-perpetuating sort of thing.

I don't think anything will ever change in that shit-hole country as long as the NRA exists.
