Actually I was just thinking about it then as the horse goes around the MCG. He was in Ballarat that day - 30km from Mount Egerton where he lived so it wasnt a spur of the moment decision. He was with a couple of mates and they probably thought it would be a great adventure to go to europe for a month or two.
