TIL that losing an elimination final is very close to making a prelim.

He is contracted until end of 2021 after the club rightly or wrongly gave hime a contract extension in September. Can't see the club being willing to pay that out. Ken will be around for a while yet.Lions did the same thing under voss in his final year and it proved his down fall , but now to add dregs from the Roos like Thomas , Mckenzie from the Suns and a host of other rejects seems crazy , if it back fires and they slip back , Hinkley will be on the chopping block

long term, yes.Do you need a 2nd ruck? Look at Richmond
Puts them in the same position as almost every other side in the comp where they have 1 good ruck and unsure depth options.shallow on backup to Ryder. Dixon and two kids are ruck back up?
How many were desperate for Watts or Motlop to join their teams in 2016? Both are underperforming talents. We tried to shop Motts last year, but no luck at all. This years he's had about 3 good games. If there's improvement, it won't be from their new recruits.

Which team has the best back up ruck? Hickey, Stanley, Cal Sinclair, an uninjured Sandi or Darcy, Leuenberger? It doesn't really matter as long as your number 1 guy can play 15 regular season games and finals.
For 2nd ruck Port are likely blessed with options having Westhoff (probably), Watts and Dixon all best 22. They can spell Ryder in games in different ways depending on match ups.
I think they've got a pretty comprehensive list with some key players that are well and truly good enough to lead them to a flag.Haha, nah
This is the key here.Improving the list with 3 best 18 players 2 blokes U26.
Smart list management, gave up nothing.
Ah Bigfooty, the Petri dish of dumb opinions
We were the 7-10 best team in 2017. Surely going in with the same cattle would deliver the same result?
4-8 is a reasonable chance now

I very much think it'll be a Richmond type situation next year where Ken Hinkley bends and flexes and the players come around to him.
Just my opinion.
Unless Lobbe's contract was closer to 1.5 mil, the 11 blokes you got rid of weren't getting paid 3.3 mil between them.
Jack Watts and Steve Motlop won't exactly be wanting to arrive at their new clubs with poor attitudes or poor application. I think they'll be keen to make a fresh start and make an immediate impression, i would be anyway. I don't think David Koch would be very forgiving if they replicated their current habits at Alberton.Maybe, but they haven't really addressed their "downhill skier" issues with their off-season pick ups

I'd expect to see a big season for both of them, probably their best ever.
