Collingwood are the first team since Hawthorn in 2009 to unfurl their premiership flag and lose

Pies have the potential to drop off a cliff. Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Elliot, Cox, Mihocek, Mitchell, WHE, Crisp...

Those are some key players 30+ years of age, sometimes that cliff catches up with them quickly.

They've also traded away this first round pick, Dockers could be licking their lips.

What was also hilarious is that Mitchell was ‘managed’ after 1 game!

Agree, reckon Sidebottom & Crisp are not far behind.

Yep. Can add a few more to that list too I reckon... Elliot, Howe, Mitchell

McStay will be 30 by the time he plays again. Leaving 31 yo Mihocek as their only key forward this year...

Cox is worse than ever.. and that's saying something...

And most likely go zip and three after trip to Brizzy. 😍

Long way back from there. :thumbsu:

Could they do a Geelong and miss finals after a flag.......One can only hope.

I reckon they will correct themselves and finish in the top 4 again. Hope I am wrong though.

They'll correct themselves if Nathan Murphy gets back and gets confidence to play the way he's accustomed to playing.

He's as big a loss to them structurally as Weiters is to us (though clearly not the player). His absence really stifles their ability to play their optimal roles and there's literally nobody on their list who can provide even a "poor man's" version of what he contributes.

This is where we've done especially well in comparison in two areas.

1. We're 2-0 without Weiters (and plenty of others)

2. List managemrnt -- they have no replacement at all for Murphy. On the other hand, while Jacob is far and away better than Lewis we can call upon him to give him much of the responsibility Jacob assumes while the other stuff can be distributed somewhat. We just don't go to water without him.

If they're putting all their eggs in the Murphy basket they are in a bit of strife. He's clearly struggling to get back and he's one high hit away from retiring.

Where it might be part of their problem it is only a small part. Pendles, Sidey, Crisp and Howe are getting close to falling off the clliff. The Daicos boys are great when they are on top but have absolutely no capacity to get in and get dirty when things are going bad. Adams has some flaws but would fight to the death to try and drag his team back if they were in trouble, but he is gone. They've given up their future first to get Schultz, who is just above average, at a time where they really need to re-plenish their list. Their forward line shouldn't really scare anyone.

They will get their act together and maybe win as many as they lose. It's hard to see them doing too much damage in the near future.
