A few GWS players staying on to win a flag, might be having a rethink. Cruelled by injuries but also by a lack of heart.

Not much available this year in terms of premium talent (we should be going after Sproule on the cheap since we are going to lose multiple KPPs over the coming years).

But in 2019...

RFA: Tomlinson, Shiel, Haynes, Coniglio
Uncontracted: Kelly, Hopper, Himmelberg, Lobb

Rioli should get a week for tapping Ray on the arse.

Will we see the same faces in the media running a campaign to get him banned?

The ones at the ground suggested nothing in it or maybe a fine.

No mention on the umpiring board ... aside from me just now.

I seriously hope Rioli doesn’t get suspended for that interaction with the umpire, despite what happened to Ed.

In my mind the only incident which required a suspension was Hawkins as there was some element of agression in his action and the umpire was clearly and verbally unhappy about it. I was glad May was found not guilty and allowed to play.

I know as a carlton supporter I should be demanding Rioli gets cited and sent to the tribunal and suspended, but I can’t bring myself to be like Whately & Co. and fake outrage at an incident that I see no issue with. For a player to miss a game for that would be embarrassing IMO.

A precedent has been set now and the MRO/Tribunal have to remain consistent.

Minimum sanction should be a one-week suspension.

Clarity and certainty is needed to let players know that this is the rule. If you touch an umpire and you mean to, you will be suspended

Yeah Aphrodite I am well aware of all of that and know exactly what you are highlighting is correct from the AFLs perspective, I just don’t agree with it.

I didn’t agree with it before Ed’s decision and I’m not going to change my mind just because the AFL made a decision that I don’t support. I just can’t bring myself to cheer and hope for a player to be suspended for that, no matter the precedent already incorrectly (IMO) set.

Someone needs to have a quiet word with the WCE's MC, tall forwardlines just won't cut it in the modern game

The difference for the Eagles is that they're all superior athletes except for JK who is absolutely elite in his skill set. The same can be said for Adelaide. Unique combination of mobility and size makes them next to impossible. It's not a case of having multiple gorillas out there.

I hope the eagles and lions have stopped the comparisons between hawthorn's "rebuild" (still one of the oldest list in the comp ffs) and ours. Was really starting to annoy me. They will be middle of the table for a while imo. Clarkson is a fantastic coach but the worshipping the ground he walks on is just too much for me

I agree

Have always said it is about mobility, not size.

Yep. This is why I will vigorously argue with people who want us to draft or sign any big name key forward. We have two great athletes in Curnow and McKay. If we can get a mobile goal kicking tall then all we'd need is a couple of small to mediums who can Richmond-style pressure tackle and keep the scoreboard honest to be literally unstoppable up forward in the future. I'm hoping that Pickett and/or Garlett can take those roles. But getting a Patton style forward who isn't mobile enough to play the modern game wont work.

We're almost there.

Think we will see some signs in the back half of the year, of what Charlie and Harry are capable of together. Wouldn't mind another Will Hayward type in that forward line, surrounded by pressure forwards.

I still believe Pickett and Garlett, will continue to improve, then the likes of Dow, Fisher, SPS resting forward.
