I wouldn't be starting with Harris or Starc.

Neither would I.

Hopefully one of Hunt, Ward or Street can really kick on over the coming 12/18 months and Pucovski can sort out out his concussion issues. I used to be a Harris backer but I've lost patience with him and don't see him as a long term option.

Inglis fairly stitched up, not given the chance to push his claims in any format and essentially taken out of the running because of it.

Starc being chosen ahead of Richardson is also inevitable and will absolutely do my head in.

I want Swepson to really push Lyon, who was shocking against India as well.

Harris, massive meh.

Go Aussies? I guess.

Yeah I feel your pain carbine ...not a good day for West Aussie Cricket fans

Cummins picked Smith as his VC as they are mates..will probabaly put the good word in for Starc to stay in the team as well

Jobs for the boys for me

This is weird though. Everyone was rapt that Inglis was picked in the T20 squad now he has been stitched up..you can’t have your cake and eat it too

For me I reckon that international T20 cricket needs to be scrapped and it just be a franchise or league game.

And yet you want Inglis keeping, who let's through heaps of byes and doesn't stay down long enough to keep to spin.

Umm no totally disagree....Inglis is a very good keeper to spin and very good keeper all round and he is a better keeper to Carey

Inglis and Peirson are the best gloveman available in the country atm...IMO carey is number three

Inglis has been stitched up hugely

Hindsight will say the selectors made the right choices, I felt at the time if Inglis was chosen he ought to have made the starting XI (winning the tosses ended up being our most important factor in the tournament, thanks Finchy).

Franchise T20 is much better, agreed with that.

It's pretty much a 50/50 flip with Inglis and Carey. Pretty good batsmen (for keepers), just adequate enough with the gloves. The only difference is experience vs longer term. Carey's three successive failures in the shield over the last month is a cause for concern.

The thing is no one saw the Paine debacle incoming so Inglis wouldn't have had much cause for concern at the lack of red ball cricket leading into the series.

Carey has been the deputy for a while so it was probably always the logical choice. Inglis had a good 20/21 (so did Carey from limited appearances) and I think he will get his chance and possibly reasonably quickly. I will be pleasantly surprised if either becomes a good long term test cricket if I'm being honest - our keeping cupboard is looking a little grim.

What we would give for Chris Hartley to be ten years younger.

What annoys me is they will come up with some crap that Carey was picked over Inglis due to Inglis not having enough first class/shield cricket recently which is no fault of his own...picked carey who is struggling in the shield to get to 10 and then pick Starc who also has had no first class cricket over Jhye who has had some.. bowling well and bowls well at the Gabba

makes sense

Could say that about lots of blokes. What would we give to have Brad hodge right now, what if Stuart McGill didn’t have his time at the same time as Warne

Should flick Maxy a message to ask how it feels so he can get some tips on dealing with it

The suggestion that anyone threw Smith under the bus is a nonsense.

He saw something happening, chose to ignore it, and then when they were caught, he chose to lie about it.

His actions, his consequences.
First of all, how can anybody still believe Smith was merely 'ignoring' what was going on?

They all knew what was going on, including Smith.

Just as the Brits all knew about the lollies, and the South Africans all knew about the bottlecaps.

Did the British or ZAF fans throw their teams (let alone their captains) under the bus?

No. Because they are not a bunch of judgemental vindictive schmucks.

I’m not a huge fan of Harris but lets see how the English quicks go on our decks.
I think they will underperform as usual, I still think they will be fighting over who gets to claim his pole early.

Hopefully he can perform on our decks at least but I don’t have much hope.

Think people are overreacting a little about Broad and Anderson.

Jimmy is a star but he'll be lucky to make it through 2 Tests IMO, he'll be a threat in the day/nighter though.

Broad is well past it outside England, did a good in 2013 but was useless last time.

Stokes a threat but I'll be surprised if he bowls much with his lack of cricket.

That leaves the usual trundlers and it'll be the same old story about how England just don't have a system built for producing bowlers that suit these conditions.

The ICC and CA investigations both concluded that Steve Smith was not the instigator, but when he found out, he didn't do anything to stop it. It's generally accepted he said "I don't want to know", or words to that effect.

Still don't understand how fans can throw a team under a bus? Administrators, yes. But fans can't really do much. If anything, it was the prime minister - Malcolm Turnbull not being a noted cricket fan - chiming in that then led to sponsors getting upset and then CA had to act.

I think everybody is sleeping on Robinson and Wood, I expect them to do well on our pitches.

Keeping standards and Carey...wouldn't be the angle I'd be going lol
lol.
Its amazing the differences in opiniong
Typical pick the worst option would just about rather Wade
Ok ive been sitting here reading these comments laughing but now time to comment myself. Maybe I am biased but I dont get it. Carey is a gun keeper who let a few chances go in a world cup yonks ago. A world cup mind you where he was named as WK in the side of the tournament. He is just a good a keeper as Inglis and a much better batsman. Inglis will get his chance but right now its Careys turn. He has earnt the right to be next in line.

I hope I’m not saying “I told you so” after this series. Look whoever plays has my support but the top 7 isn’t near the side that should be picked at least on form if nothing else. It’s the same as last year Smith and Lab…better hope for the best with the others
So who should miss on form then
Warner who was poor due to injury last summer but has the runs on the board in Australia

Harris who is the 5th leading FC run scorer world wide this calendar year with 1185 runs at 45 with 5 100s

Labuschange who is the second leading FC run scorer this year with 1503 runs at 65 with 5 100s

Smith who despite the lack of red ball cricket is a proven performer

Head who is 13th highest with 1015 at 42 with 3 100s

Green who is 10th highest FC run scorer this year

I am happy to grant Carey’s form has been poor but Inglis has no form to go off. Also batting 7 may free him up a bit.

I know I was in favour of Maddo getting a game and still am but who is out of form there?
