So who should miss on form then
Warner who was poor due to injury last summer but has the runs on the board in Australia

Harris who is the 5th leading FC run scorer world wide this calendar year with 1185 runs at 45 with 5 100s

Labuschange who is the second leading FC run scorer this year with 1503 runs at 65 with 5 100s

Smith who despite the lack of red ball cricket is a proven performer

Head who is 13th highest with 1015 at 42 with 3 100s

Green who is 10th highest FC run scorer this year

I am happy to grant Carey’s form has been poor but Inglis has no form to go off. Also batting 7 may free him up a bit.

I know I was in favour of Maddo getting a game and still am but who is out of form there?

Head shouldn’t be there at least. I can cop Carey even though I feel it’s an utter howler. We aren’t in a position to leave either Maddinson or Khawaja out. Our batting is brittle enough. Harris is very lucky too just feels like a player thts always a very fine State player but can’t make the next step.

I would have open Maddo personally. Just think he has more upside than Harris but you can’t dispute Harris’s form and that’s the reason he ultimately got picked

For all Khawaja’s strong form he isn’t in the top 50 FC run scores for 21

We’ve seen it before with Head. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when he gets 20, gets out on repeat.

Harris I’m just not a fan of I’d rather give one of the younger openers a go if you don’t want Khawaja opening. Not fussed there

But your criticism of Head before was his form that has been solid. We have also seen Khawaja fail time and time again at test level so he hardly has the edge on him there

It’s average at best. We did this last year and lost the unloseable series. Coach is leaving me a lot to be desired on him making hard calls

There are still a heck of terrible teams, I mean the England national side is average at best, and Stokes wasn't even playing in those games.

Look I'm happy to give the bloke 2 tests, but that's it, surely that's plenty...and surely that's the same with Carey and whoever we pick. Langer keeps touting this "I'm picking the side on form"...well he didn't last season and he lost the series no other coach would have.

I'm happy if Khawaja gets picked though, better option.

Last year we had quite a few guys making Shield runs, yet it seemed we didn't learn a thing..and then there's Starc and his bakery who is running Cummins into the ground because the bloke can't bowl more than 2 decent balls in 20. Play Richo it's not that hard...and Lyon is pushing it he's been putrid for a while too.

He better make the most of it, and no 30's aren't enough if you are opening. So of those players how many actually played...or did our useless coach keep the same side who got flogged at home...
