This tournament will be played mainly on the east coast I imagine. 7-8 stadiums should suffice, 50,000 maximum.

Melbourne (AAMI park/Etihad)
Sydney (SFS)
Brisbane (Suncorp)
Gold Coast (Robina)
Newcastle (EnergyAustralia)
Gosford (Bluetongue)
Adelaide (Hindmarsh/Adelaide oval)
Canberra (Bruce Stadium)

Places like Gosford, Newcastle, Canberra would be ideal for crap games, Gold Coast & Adelaide for good teams vs crap teams and quarter finals; Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane for Australia matches and the semis, final and 3rd place match.

Perth and Townsville shouldnt be considered as they are too far away from the rest for this tournament, I cant see people travelling from Brisbane to Perth for Japan vs Qatar. World cup is a different story and those cities will be included then.

Perth definately hasn't and I'm not surprised. While MES would be perfect for the smaller games the distance is too much. The World Cup would be a different story.

Asian Cup 2015 details announced at the world game. The bid is being handed over on Thursday, with the final ratification in January.

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/asian-cup/news/1015189/Cities-fight-for-Asian-Cup-motza

Key points are:
  • 23 day tournament to be played in January, avoiding any clash with AFL
  • At least 4 but no more then 5 stadiums to be used during the tournament
  • 8 Stadiums on the bid document are Ethihad (VIC), AAMI Park (VIC), SFS (NSW) Parramatta Stadium (NSW), ANZ Stadium (NSW), Bruce Stadium (ACT), Suncorp (QLD) & Skilled Park (QLD)
  • Most likely venue for the final is ANZ Stadium
  • Final say on venues and fixture will be determined by AFC and FFA

I will assume that we would go with 5 venues.

2 in Sydney (ANZ & SFS), 1 from QLD (Suncorp) and 2 from Melbourne (AAMI & Etihad).

Opening game and final to be hosted at ANZ.
Socceroos to play group games at ANZ (opening game), Etihad and Suncorp

AAMI and SFS to be used exclusively for non Socceroo games in the group phase.

Semi finals at Suncorp and Etihad.

Given there will be 3 cities involved and 3 Socceroo games I'd be surprised if the FFA doesn't allocate 1 Australia game to each of the 3 cities.

Opening & closing is often at 2 different cities & venues, so I'd say:

Opening: Docklands stadium
Closing: Olympic Stadium

Regardless, it will be a wonderful 3 weeks of football and great preparation for Australia's 2021 Confederations Cup and 2022 World Cup!
